Revise ‘no-first-use’ n-policy: Jaswant

 china has said there are no limit to its nuclear stock piles

and pakistan First use policy..
should we sit on our old policy of no first use..??
We have to revise it according to current situation

No need.

China and the USA have the world's largest economic relationship, and there is even talk of a "G2".

Russia is a close friend and ally of China, as well as a military partner.

The chances of having a nuclear war with someone outside of Asia, are extremely low right now.

Even the chances of a nuclear war between China and India are low. But we do have an active border dispute, and many other similar issues.

China said "no limit to it's nuke stock pile" but there is a limit because China has the SMALLEST STOCK PILE of Nukes among the P5 while USA and Russia both has the largest stock pile of nukes.

China's threat comes from countries that are anti-China.....how many countries are anti-China and possess nukes in Asia ???
China don't need to change anything. Also i really hope you are a chinese citizen using pakistani flag.

Well I dont actually see the use for it.But the chance of war between china and india is slim.China is Indias largest trading partner and its growing and even china benefits from that so the chance of war is slim. But we can`t avoid the fact that tensions are still a little bit high but both countries are maturing. And this also needs to be done with pakistan then whole south asia will be a stable region

India's policy should be "No First use against non-nuclear armed country".

Well said. But the problem is if its not nuclear armed than what is the use of having a no-first use policy against it? We can better say....

1) No use against non-nuclear armed countries.
2) First use policy against nuclear armed countries.

But what is the advantage of having a first-use policy even against a nuclear armed country? When we have many advantages of having having no-first-use policy like everyday we quote this after having nuclear submarine or ABM. ;)

That would be a good thing to happen - in the eyes of white people. Should the Asians nuke themselves out of the planet, the whites would enjoy supremacy for another hundred years or so.

I thought the current form of democracy in the west is having trouble for several reasons:
1) Always a two party politics giving little choice to the public.
2) Forget the selfish nature of human being so policies made based on majority opinion is not necessary in the best interest of the country and is always short sighted.
3) Politician, attempting to please the voters, always promises social benefits to the citizen more than the country could afford leading to high rate of National debt.

This is happening in many countries in Europe and is happening in the United States. And nothing much the government could do about it.

Hope the Asian democracy has different approach instead of directly copying the system from the west.

There is no need to formally revise this policy.. surprise and deception are the key to winning a war, any war be it nuclear. Let your enemy think that..it controls the nuclear switch..let it be ill prepared for that contingency...while we make our preparations for the worst case scenario.

india dosent need first use policy as if can counter any army in the world with its conventional arms, nuclear war should never happen anywhere in the world even if the defending country looses the war by conventional weapons as it will only lead to more hardship to the survivors

sorry dont agree with u r post.

surprise and deception works very well in context of conventional warfare however it is terrible to bring these elements in nuclear issues. that is why there is so much emphasis on confidence building measures between two rivals. u dont want a rival to live in a state of deception with regard to u r operational nuclear policy. hence, it is always better to spell out nuclear doctrine well in advance so that u r rivals know "wat is u r limit of tolerance wen attacked". if u keep it ambigouous it can result in nuclear war.

india should revise its policy from no first use to no first use against non nuclear state. the latter is also followed by chinese and is considered far more agressive posture then former.

But seeing what is happening in Japan, nobody wants to even think about the 'use'
