Hi

I'm 27 and since at least last year I have came to the realisation chunks of my hair are thinning to the point where it's barely visible (when they fall out), also when I did ustra last year, I noticed my hair from the front has ceded at least an inch on both sides.

I believe poor diet and heavy dandruff are the primary cause (blocking hair follicles), which I foolishly neglected for many years.... The diet bit I'm sorting out, also using a specialist shampoo (but its filled with harsh chemicals)..

Thus I'm looking for proven natural remedies which control dry scalp and reverse thinning hair.. I have heard good things about black seed oil/ caster oil.. any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm also looking into FUE hair transplant, which is quite expensive in the UK and I am hoping it does not come to it.. In the meantime I plan to see a dermatologist, but the waiting times are usually long and you have to jump through many hoops as our national health service is taking a nosedive..

Non. You either have it. Or you don't. Just go Kojak. And be proud.

No thanks

Come on. You hardly expect NHS to give thining hair priority?

Well its not only the hair, I developed a skin condition which is spread to pretty much to my entire body, which I have seen the GP twice for already (two different treatments) next visit he will most likely refer me to a dermatologist having spoken to him last time...

You should just embrace it or look into a hair transplant abroad (If that belgravia or whatever its called in London is too expensive)

not much else you can probably do apart from the obvious de-stress, diet, exercise, etc; im sorry but if there was an easy cure it would be on every single supermarket shelf in the world

Rograin shampoo might help.

Use oil in your hair and massage your skull. That might help if it's a minor illness.

Lots of people go to Turkey for hair transplants. Cheaper than the UK.

Ultimately though, as @Indus Pakistan said - there's no fighting your genes.

Seriously, my advice. go with the flow. If your body has decided it's gonna let it go. Let it go. Seize it. Don't bother wasting money. Hair loss is mostly genetic. You can;t change your genes. Not at the present anyway.

Was that you in the pic?
well FUE is permanent, but I'm only going that route if its necessary

Yes turkey was an option, in fact its only £1600 including the treatment, hotel and flight.. but their safety standards is another issue and knowing which is the right clinic.. I heard some horror stories which kind of put me off..

Never using Rogaine.. once you stop using it.. most of your hair falls off..

As someone said.. it is mostly genetic... it cannot be stopped.

Save some money up and get it done properly then. Like I said that place in London is probably one of the best in the world.

Well, it is due to many reasons. If it is genetic then you're mostly out of luck unless and until you get can some gene mod (sci fi as of now).

But if it is due to stress or malnutrition or bad environmen..like use of chemicals a.k.a shampoo etc then you can stop using strong chemical and start taking better and balanced food, reduce stress in your life. I had started losing hair near the end of my MS (second degree) and it continued until I totally changed my lifestyle. Shared the responsibilities, got married and changed the diet so now my hair has recovered.

Yes genetics can play a role, but I cannot be certain since many blood relatives started losing hair in their mid forties or later...

MS?

I do believe lifestyle has played a significant role.. by avoiding healthy foods I deprived my body from essential vitamins and minerals.. heck I'm the only male in my family who does not have a full beard.. I think a lot of my problems started during my time at university (stress) and even post university when I decided to make a career change I did nothing proactively for 2 years! and addition to family problems its been a stress cycle since..

@Goenitz

What is that anime on your avatar?

propecia + rogaine(or generic versions of them)

the only scientifically proven non-surgical method.

If it’s not genetic, then stress is the biggest culprit. A friend of mine has gone completely bold at 26. The doctors did some tests and in the end told him it’s genetic. I also lost a lot of hair due to some heavy stress, not only on my head but arms and legs. But it has started to grow back after diet, stress-control, oil massages and some daily exercise.

But sadly once hair starts to deteriorate, it really is an uphill battle.
