@Who.Cares well surely it is your right not to disclose your personal info brother. However he was most probable asking to build up a discussion. Anyway, leave it.
Let us just stop this "one city" Many cities" thing.

Well they are spending their military spending on the expense of economic spending. Due to recent slump of oil and gas prices, Qatar has raised its fuel prices up to .35 paisa, there is a major downsizing going on in government, public and private sectors. Funding has been slashed for various mega projects.

But qatar wants to grow out from the shadow of saudia and wants to compete with them in militaristic terms. Perhaps you might have an idea that Saudi-Qatar doesnt see eye to eye on many issues. And 90-95 percent of Qatar food edible and other construction imports comes through Sauida via road and saudia has threatened several times of closing that border to make Qatar toe the Saudi agenda. And also disagreements on Syria. So Qatar wants to flex its muscles in an independent sort of way without being intimidated by Saudia.

Yes i am aware of the Saudi-Qatar relation and the tension there. Also as i said, the location and there sea borne interests is a reason enough to invest in Navy.

Anyway, lets see when we can get some news regarding the ship details.

@Arsalan, the given number of the vessels and type of the vessels is not correct.
So what do your suggest it is? :)

.
I can only say one thing that by having these vessels Qatar can be called an Arabian Giant Naval force, the reason is that an LPD of 140/M is also part of the contract. Further details can be disclosed time by time :)

.
Egypt bought 2 LHD mistrals for €950 Million with 2 years maintenance contract

Egypt bought a Fremm Frigate and 4 Gowind 2500 Corvettes with 5 years Maintenance and Tot for €1.6b

Egypt bought 4 type 209/1400 T2 for less than €1b

i wonder why Gulf countries pay too much for such deals

Qatar stronk lol! :p:

Seriously though, I have no clue what this deal means for Qatar.

Does it mean Qatar will have a stronger navy than the other GCC states?

Why do they need such vessels..!?

See post 20.

Qatar on its own will never be able to challenge anybody in the region militarily. With the exception of nearby Bahrain, lol. As if those two countries will ever go to war with each other.

Qatar's less than 2000 man strong navy was almost non-existent before this purchase. It's a step in the right direction in terms of strengthening that part of the Qatari military. It is a welcome move.

No, the Saudi Arabian Navy is significantly stronger. It has no comparison in the GCC despite being the most neglected part of the army, IMO.

Anyway all GCC states have been looking or are looking to strengthen their respective navies. This is official GCC policy and every GCC purchase in this regard should be looked at from a joint GCC and Arab view point.

KSA for instance is looking to strengthen its navy significantly in the near future so you can expect news on this front as well. Other GCC states as well.

Not only though:

Looking at this deal from an purely Qatari viewpoint is wrong.

I am sure that @IAKhan will be able to confirm what I have written as well as he claims to be directly involved in this deal.

@Kuwaiti Girl is Kuwait not looking to straighten its navy as well? It seems like a coordinated move from all GCC states. As is the case whenever the air forces are strengthened.

All the things that are underlined for GCC are quite near to fact, what i can see about the deal is a game changer in ME specially for Qatar. Qatar will have 15 training and support par with Italian Navy standards and to be taken care directly by Italian Navy.
