Salam everyone,

I want to know usually how much it takes to get a discharge/retirement from Army these days. For example if a person forwards request for discharge/retirement how much time the application would take to be processed?

If one serve more than 10 years and wanted retirement on the basis of medical or serious personal problem it will take less time (with in year) and if someone develops interest in doing other job and don't want to serve it will take more time, especially who serve less than 10 years but eventually one can get retirement but no pension (monthly basis).
My father took retirement as captain after serving 9 years and it took 1.5 years to get release from army and as per him it was quite messy.

I am talking about officers not soldiers or NCOs.

I am asking this on behalf of my relative. They have served 20+ years as an officer and want to retire. The question is how much time application/request for retirement takes to get processed. I have heard previously that it takes a year but now hearing that people these days are getting retired in 6 months or so.

strange. your uncle is serving in army for 20 years and he is asking about retirement policy on pdf. ...?

its not my uncle who is asking, and its a simple question. If anyone knows the time duration these days, please do so thank you.

It is said that its processed quickly these days, but in the past it used to take a year even more than a year in some cases, thus the question whats it like now and is it possible to get retired in 6 to 8 months these days?
