What a wonderfully succinct statement:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The joint resistance leadership on Sunday lashed out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, accusing her of "trying to justify the Indian brutalities" in Kashmir.

Mehbooba on Saturday wrote to the resistance leaders, asking them to take a lead by engaging with the all-party delegation that is visiting Kashmir today and tomorrow.

Here is the full text of the joint statement issued by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik:

"Nobody is more aware than Mehbooba Ji that the Indian war machine is on a spree to kill, maim and disfigure an entire population into complete submission for demanding freedom from Indian occupation which is the birth right of all human beings. Unfortunately Indian occupation forces in J&K have a fig-leaf available in the shape of a quisling government fronted by her with the only brief to provide a civilian mask to a brutal military occupation. Despite killings and injuries of war-proportions she continues to perform shamelessly this role of obfuscation."

"Given this situation it is not surprising that even now her dominant concern, as expressed in her letter, is to ``lend credence and credibility`` to the Indian Parliamentary Delegation visiting Kashmir avowedly to ascertain wishes of the people. Everyone knows that people have been shouting AAZADI on the roads for those who want to listen and writing on walls and placards for those who can see. The dirty ambitions of the collaborators and their masters in Delhi have turned them deaf and blind."

"Commenting on Mehbooba Ji’s outburst a few days, the resistance leadership said that the sickness of her mind touched a new low when she recently tried to justify the Indian brutalities by saying that Kashmiri boys don’t go out to the camps with milk and toffees; that seemed to even embarrass her Indian boss sitting beside. They should not have forgotten that a terrorised population cannot greet an occupation army but with stones."

"Indian engagement with the people of Jammu and Kashmir has been only through state violence perpetrated through these armed forces that have killed close to a lakh and brutalised all of the population. In politics India has deployed deceit, double talk, themselves and through their quislings, continuously for the past 70 years. These deceitful methods of crisis management through Parliamentary Delegations and Track-II only prolong the sufferings of the people and can`t take the place of a genuine transparent agenda-based dialogue to address the core issue of the Peoples` right to self-determination in Jammu and Kashmir. That has been our consistent stand and has been spelled out recently as well in our letters to various international and global fora."

"One fails to understand what hope to attach with a delegation which has neither spelled out its mandate for any engagement on a clear agenda. People know that it is the same parliament which has given unfettered powers to their occupying force to use violence to hold Jammu and Kashmir forcibly with India against all norms of civilised behaviour and international law resulting in death, destruction, collective punishments and humiliation.

UNITED NATIONS NEEDS TO ADDRESS KASHMIR DISPUTE:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LETTER ADDRESSED TO JOHN KERRY BY KASHMIRIS DELIVERED TO US DEPARTMENT OF STATE, WASHINGTON, D.C., U.SA.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

August 31, 2016

John Kerry
Secretary of State
The US State Department
2201 C Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20520

Hon’ble Secretary of State,

You must certainly be aware of the grim situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir where more than 70 civilians, as young as 5 and as old as 80 years, have been killed during the current uprising against India’s military occupation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The inhuman and indiscriminate use of pellet shotguns by the Indian paramilitary forces
as a crowd control measure has caused severe eye injuries, blinding 570 civilians completely or partially, and injuring more than 7,500 including women and children. It is well known that the pellet shotguns are used by only one nation in the world: India and only against one ethnic group: Kashmiris. The Indian army has tortured dozens of civilians in nocturnal raids on neighborhoods and killed youths after brutal torture. Mosques have been desecrated and damaged by the paramilitary forces in raids to intimidate the Kashmiri population. This wanton violence is exacerbated by the continuous clampdown of curfew for 50 days, leading to shortages of food and medicines. To ensure information blackout, telephone networks and Internet services have been shut down that has subjected the entire population of Kashmir to great hardship and made it impossible to call emergency services. Newspapers have been threatened by the police to suspend publication at times. All these instances are documented in numerous press reports.

As the New York Times put it in its August 29, 2016 edition, there is “an epidemic of 'Dead Eyes' in Kashmir as India uses pellet guns on protesters.” This epidemic of ‘Dead Eyes’ will explode if the international community turns a blind eye to the gross medieval brutality unleashed by the Indian paramilitary forces against Kashmiri civilians.

We are both shocked and saddened by the fact that the systematic gross human rights violations against the civilians of Kashmir carried out by the Indian right-wing regime have not evoked any condemnation from the member states of the United Nations particularly the United States of America which is supposed to be the ‘leader of the free world’ and has been the upholder of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The silence of the United States is deafening and has emboldened the ruling regime in India to carry on its human rights violations with total impunity for the past 53 days.

The lack of condemnation by the United States has led us to conclude that this nation, which appears to champion the cause of freedom in other regions of the world, has chosen not to apply the same principles of human rights and democratic values when it comes to holding the ruling regime in India accountable for its crimes against humanity.

As Secretary of State of the most powerful nation in the world, the people of Kashmir are looking up to you to use your good influence in your current visit to India to remind the Indian regime of its obligations to protect the human rights of the people of Kashmir and to uphold their aspirations to live with freedom, honor and dignity in their own land.

On August 15, 2016 the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Modi openly challenged the territorial integrity of Pakistan by supporting secessionists in the Pakistani state of Baluchistan. We and many other people are concerned that the Kashmir dispute could become the flashpoint of armed conflict between the two nuclear powers and the people of Kashmir will be its first and immediate victims. As the then President of United States, Bill Clinton put it on March 10, 2000: “The most dangerous place in the world today, I think you could argue, is the Indian subcontinent and the line of control in Kashmir.” This is true in August 2016 as it was in March 2000.

In 2002, the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) projected that a worst-case scenario in an Indo-Pakistani nuclear war could entail an initial 9-12 million deaths, with radiation toxicity killing millions more over time. The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War have projected a risk of famine for 1 billion people by the ‘nuclear
winter’ resulting from the atmospheric fallout of particulate matter from a major nuclear war between India and Pakistan.

A peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute will ensure stability and bring peace and prosperity in the South East Asia region. It will also prevent catastrophic consequences for the world as a whole that could follow a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. As the premier military and economic power in the world that is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, it is incumbent upon the United States of America to exert its full diplomatic and political influence to prevent this unfortunate outcome.

We thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Wait and watch, issue of baluchistan will be taken up soon by UN and as usual Pakistan will cry back saying whole world is conspiring against it.

'Joint resistance leadership'? Lol! :omghaha:

These buggers are becoming a joke! We need to stop forthwith the Rs 60 Crore that the Indian government is spending on these Hurriyat morons every year for their travels, stay in 5 star hotels in India, medical expenses, security, and so on! And guess who's paying for it? We the Indian tax payers!! This bloody-well sucks!

If these bozos had any fukin' shame, they would have refused all these freebies from the government. But no, they want to have the cake and eat it too! It's time for the government to stop all these subsidies and largess bestowed on these ungrateful shameless jerks. We need to take a leaf out of the Pakistan Army and the ISI and do what they've been doing to sort out these halfwits. We're too soft! Where is Modi's 56 inch chest?

Pakistan has been using heavy artillery, air power and mechanized forces to quell anti Pak uprisings. Indian police have been using only small pellet guns. And the Pakistanis are creating a song and dance about it as though pellet guns are some doomsday weapons resulting in 'genocide' ( their favorite word!). If pellet guns are inhuman, what about them using artillery barrages, air bombardment, tanks and APCs?

Hypocrisy at its best! Those living in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones....

The US has already said Balochistan is Pakistan's internal matter, and that it does not endorse Modi's position.

Why are you bringing Balochistan into this thread?

Forget about the international community, even your own countrymen are asking Modi to focus on fixing IoK rather than talking about Balochistan or Azad Kashmir:

PM Narendra Modi needs to focus on Kashmir rather on Azad Kashmir, Balochistan: NCP

“They have opposed our membership to the NSG and they are not going to apparently interfere in the Azad Kashmir matter with us. In fact, our ‘own’ Kashmir is burning for 60 days for which the Prime Minister needs to act urgently rather than talking about Azad Kashmir and Balochistan,” he added.

During the talks, which took place on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, undertaking in Hangzhou, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the menace of terrorism, saying the recent attacks show how it is spreading across the world and is, therefore, a matter of grave concern. He also condemned the terrorist bomb attack at China’s embassy in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek. The Prime Minister also involved Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) members

Letter from Kashmiris? It's a letter dictated by the Establishment! Lol!

Firstly, Pakistan has violated the UN Resolutions since 1948 by not complying with the requirement of withdrawing all its troops and Pakistani nationals used for the purpose of fighting in J&K as per para 1, Part II of the Resolutions.

Secondly, this threat and blackmail of a nuke war by the Establishment if Kashmir is not handed over to Pakistan is getting kinda silly! No ones buys this crap anymore.

Thirdly, The UN Resolutions was signed by the Pakistanis themselves under Chapter VI of the UN Charter which makes the UN Resolutions unenforceable! No power on earth can enforce it! Period!

Thirdly, try as much as they want with their proxy armies, Kashmir will always remain a part of the Indian Union till the stars start winking out signalling the end of the universe. We need to start getting tough with these 5% Kashmiri Sunni Muslims of Kashmir who dominate just 6 districts out of 22 of J&K who are creating all these problems. The rest care a damn!

Indian government is doing what needs to be done for Kashmir. Recently an all party meeting is sent there to have open discussion.
You keep bringing kashmir issue to be discussed at UN but does not want to follow UN's own resolution by handing over the gilgit and baltistan to India first as first concrete step. So it is pakistan who wants to keep Kashmir issue alive by fueling it with suicide bombers and arms.
