is this new tank FMBT?
Its been demonstrated by Japanese. If India is able to develop those materials then we can reduce the weight to 30 tons but i am talking about T90. Arjun as planned by DRDO, might be converted into a 50 ton FMBT if this tech is successfully developed. But it would be interesting to see if this is technically possible because keeping engine weight, space for the weapons and strength of turret and internal chamber size allow 30Tons weight?
Steping into Pakistani shoes!!!
first get your failed arjun tank to work
Here it iscare to share the details.
first get your failed arjun tank to work
IIRC,these were meant for hilly terrain with little or no infrastructure to support(Indo-Tibet border).A really bad idea if it's planed to be the primary tank in IA Panzer corps. The new generation of FSAPDS rounds like DM 53 or M 829A3 will simply f*ck those 'sexy light' tanks to death.Instead,IA should concentrate around a 64+ ton tank with 1800 hp engine and Knife type ERA.
what is the use of light tanks???? for scouting?????
with new generation atgms and DU rounds,I dont think a light tank is such a good idea, unless some radical improvements are made in the field of armour technology.
US has left that idea and instead now concentrating on M1A3 with a L55 gun as their future MBT.We must need to understand that just like the armor tech, the technology of FSAPDS and other anti tank rounds is also improving at a fast pace and a 30 ton tank will never be able to survive future battles.Yes this news doesn't mean we will see this tommorow or next year but at some point, as technology moves on it is bound to happen. I've seen plans/demonstrators f the US Army's future tank program, the thing is v.small with a very small silhouette and a two man crew. ADS/ERA are going to allow this sort of thing.
