My Chinese colleagues in Intel Fab 11X Rio Rancho told me -- over a few beers -- that the reason they do not immigrate to the US is because of family related issues, namely elderly parents. Else they would immigrate and perhaps even to emigrate. And this social credit system is a major compelling reason why they contemplated such a move.

I am not going to argue what your Chinese colleagues' personal point of view is, but if you are drawing your conclusion based on what you prefer to hear you are not as "professional" as you thought you were.

Case in point: based on Chinese who fled China immediately after June 4th of 1989, CPC government would have been overthrown and China would have been a "Western democracy" long ago.
