Pertamina Installs Solar Power Plant in Rokan Working Area of 28.2 Hectares​

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is committed to the use of green energy in the Rokan Working Area (WK), Riau. One of his efforts is to build a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which spans an area of 28.2 hectares (Ha) in the Rokan Block area.

PHR Corporate Secretary Rudi Arifianto said that the construction of this solar power plant is a collaboration between PT Pertamina Power Indonesia as Pertamina's Subholding in the field of New and Renewable Energy with PHR to pursue the energy mix target of 23 percent by 2025.

He added that the location and geographical conditions of Rokan Working Area provide high photovoltaic power output potential for solar power plant installations which are an environmentally friendly source of electricity-producing energy.

"With the abundance of solar power sources in the Rokan Block, it is appropriate for PHR to build a solar power plant in Rokan WK as a form of commitment to the use of environmentally friendly energy," said Rudi through his press release, Sunday (12/3/2023).

Rudi added that the solar power plant was built on land with a total area of 28.2 hectares with a total of 64 thousand panels spread across three Rokan WK points, namely in worker housing complexes in Rumbai, Duri and Dumai.

"The method used is that the solar energy in Rokan Working Area is collected by solar power plants built with ground mounted and rooftop types. Furthermore, the energy captured is then converted through an inverter so that the electrical energy can be utilized in Rokan Working Area," explained Rudi.

Rudi said that the production capacity to be produced by the solar power plant is 25 MWp with a potential efficiency of 4.3 million US dollars per year. Furthermore, Rudi added, the solar power plant produces energy of 32.42 GWh per year. Currently, the solar power plant is still in the stage of completion of construction and is planned to be used this year.

"The solar power plant that we built also has an impact on reducing CO2 emissions by 23 thousand tons per year and reducing the carbon tax by 48,261 US dollars per year, which of course has an impact on the world," said Rudi.

Completing Waterway Tunnel Excavation, PLN Ready to Complete Jatigede Hydropower Project​

TRIBUNBANYUMAS.COM - PT PLN (Persero) has again succeeded in completing the construction stages of the Jatigede 2x55 Mega Watt (MW) Hydropower Plant (PLTA) construction project. This time the excavation work along 702.96 meters with a width of 6.5 meters known as _Horizontal Penstock_ has been completed. The completion of this section is the end of the excavation of the entire 4-kilometer waterway from _headrace tunnel_ to _tailrace tunnel_.

Excavation work _horizontal penstock_ be carried out very carefully due to unstable soil. The unfavorable geological conditions force the need for special measures and treatment so that excavations can continue. At least, there is a 53-meter long unstable soil that is part of the _horizontal penstock_. The soil strengthening process is very necessary in order to maintain job security.

Manager of PLN Central Java Project Implementation Unit 2 (PLN UPP JBT 2), Nanda Dani Andrianto explained that _horizontal penstock_ will function to drain water from the Jatigede Dam through the _headrace tunnel_ to drive turbines in the _power house_. Turbines connected to generators will convert mechanical energy into electrical energy which is eventually consumed by the community.

"Obviously the underground work will be quite difficult to predict. Uncertain natural conditions are a challenge for us to complete all work both construction to mechanical and electrical. Caution at work is the number one thing for the security and safety of workers," explained Nanda.

Currently, the Jatigede hydropower development project has reached 93.92 percent overall and is targeted to be operational in 2024. The completion of excavation _horizontal penstock_ become one of the critical stages to go to the next stage. After this success, the installation phase will _steel liner_ be carried out immediately as an effort to strengthen the waterway.

General Manager of PLN Central Java Development Main Unit (PLN UIP JBT'> PLN UIP JBT), Djarot Hutabri said PLN will continue to be committed to realizing new renewable energy. According to him, this electricity infrastructure is part of PLN's energy security program because the age of hydropower is relatively much longer and also environmentally friendly.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Indika Energy Tbk (INDY) budgeted US$ 21 million this year to finance the wood pellet plant project.

Not without reason Indika raised a wood pellet business opportunity. According to management, wood pellet business has several advantages.

"Wood pellets are proven to be more environmentally friendly, and more economical when compared to the use of fuel, LPG, wood and relatively safer to use. This is in accordance with our sustainability commitment and business priorities in the low-carbon sector," Head of Corporate Communications Indika Energy, Ricky Fernando told Kontan.co.id, Friday (11/8).
According to the plan, Jaya Bumi Paser (JBP), a subsidiary of Indika Nature engaged in the utilization of Energy Timber Forest products (plantation forests), will build a wood pellet factory with a capacity of 10 tons per hour. If there is no cross section, the plant is planned to be ready for operation in November 2023.

Furthermore, construction is planned to continue until the total plant capacity reaches 70 tons per hour in 2027 and is expected to be fully operational with a production capacity of 640 thousand tons per year. The groundbreaking for the wood pellet plant was carried out on August 8, 2023.

The total investment needs of the wood pellet project are projected at US $ 30 million.

Director of PT Jaya Bumi Paser, Dominicus Wimbuh Wibowo, said that all steel structures, machinery and fabrication are scheduled to reach Tanjung Pinang, East Kalimantan in mid-September.

Meanwhile, the construction process is expected to take 2 months, so the management scheduled the factory functioning process in November 2023.

"Our target is that by the end of December, this wood pellet export process can be carried out," explained Dominicus.

According to Ricky, the factory's production output will be marketed both to domestic and foreign markets.

"The plan is that we will market it domestically and abroad, including Japan and South Korea," said Ricky.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) uses waste chips or known as refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to fuel the factory.

The use of refuse-derived fuel at the SMGR plant is a form of PT Semen Indonesia (SMGR) contribution in reducing carbon emissions by converting waste into alternative fuels.

Vita Mahreyni, Corporate Secretary of PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) revealed that the use of RDF as an alternative fuel has been successfully implemented by SMGR's subsidiary, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk or issuer with SMCB stock code, at the Narogong Factory and Cilacap Factory.

The total utilization of RDF in these two SMGR plants has reached 76,000 tons from 2020 to 2022. The waste was obtained from the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST), RDF Plant Jeruklegi Cilacap, and TPST Wangon Banyumas.

Vita also claims PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SMCB) is also a pioneer in the construction of RDF facilities in Indonesia.

The Cilacap RDF facility, which was inaugurated on July 21, 2020 by Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, is capable of processing 160 tons of waste per day, producing around 70 tons of RDF per day.

The contribution of the use of waste as fuel by SMCB has the potential to replace the use of 40 tons of coal per day, thereby reducing carbon emissions.

"Sustainable waste management is SMGR's effort in creating a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment, while providing economic benefits," he said.

In addition, through the use of RDF as an alternative fuel by SMGR, dependence on fossil energy sources can be reduced, natural resources can be conserved and carbon gas emissions can be reduced.
