Pertamina Installs Solar Power Plant in Rokan Working Area of 28.2 Hectares

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is committed to the use of green energy in the Rokan Working Area (WK), Riau. One of his efforts is to build a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which spans an area of 28.2 hectares (Ha) in the Rokan Block area.
PHR Corporate Secretary Rudi Arifianto said that the construction of this solar power plant is a collaboration between PT Pertamina Power Indonesia as Pertamina's Subholding in the field of New and Renewable Energy with PHR to pursue the energy mix target of 23 percent by 2025.
He added that the location and geographical conditions of Rokan Working Area provide high photovoltaic power output potential for solar power plant installations which are an environmentally friendly source of electricity-producing energy.
"With the abundance of solar power sources in the Rokan Block, it is appropriate for PHR to build a solar power plant in Rokan WK as a form of commitment to the use of environmentally friendly energy," said Rudi through his press release, Sunday (12/3/2023).
Rudi added that the solar power plant was built on land with a total area of 28.2 hectares with a total of 64 thousand panels spread across three Rokan WK points, namely in worker housing complexes in Rumbai, Duri and Dumai.
"The method used is that the solar energy in Rokan Working Area is collected by solar power plants built with ground mounted and rooftop types. Furthermore, the energy captured is then converted through an inverter so that the electrical energy can be utilized in Rokan Working Area," explained Rudi.
Rudi said that the production capacity to be produced by the solar power plant is 25 MWp with a potential efficiency of 4.3 million US dollars per year. Furthermore, Rudi added, the solar power plant produces energy of 32.42 GWh per year. Currently, the solar power plant is still in the stage of completion of construction and is planned to be used this year.
"The solar power plant that we built also has an impact on reducing CO2 emissions by 23 thousand tons per year and reducing the carbon tax by 48,261 US dollars per year, which of course has an impact on the world," said Rudi.
