Renault to start assembling cars in Pakistan by 2018, says Board of Investment

the two additional large lights on the front of the bumper look like huge nostrils, its ugly, i thought the french are good at making cars look nice? or is that the italians?

They're a reminder of the older Alpine that made it's mark in the rally world :

Ghosn talked of a brand revival so this is the first model out with more coming.

Maybe you'll like the bum or cockpit better?

Price of this car??

Ghosn said less than 80k€ ... because that's how much folks pay for the old ones today.

Mountains are best when hiking :P

The main issue with these cars is low ground clearance. They can't go beyond Nowshehra or Balakot.

Does it really matter, mate? As with top end bikes, most
of them are at more at home on the trendy pricey street
of the moment showing off their owners than out on the range.

But check the pics of the old one in blue, that was a pure rally car.
Tough roads and dirt roads, it could handle.

Great day all, Tay.

Assuming news to be true

It is true:

* Renault says entered exclusive negotiations on Pakistan production with Ghandhara and Al Futtaim groups

* Renault spokesman says deal "to develop the Renault brand in Pakistan, including a manufacturing plant on the Ghandara site in Karachi".

KARACHI: Ghandhara Nissan (GNL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about the creation of around 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for Pakistanis with the start of the production of Renault vehicles in Pakistan, a press release said on Friday.

GNL has joined hands with French automaker Renault and Al-Futaim of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to produce Renault vehicles at the existing plant of GNL at Port Qasim.

The company said the project will attract investment of $100 million, including approximately 60 per cent foreign investment. The new auto policy will ensure a level playing field for new entrants, GNL said.

Datsun Go and Go+ have already been spotted testing on Pakistani roads. Since Renault and Nissan have a strategic partnership, it's not necessary that only Renault cars are produced here.

Duster is still selling like hot cake !
https://autoportal.com/newcars/renault/duster/sales-statistics/

Clearly on the decline.

I have seen Renault in Turkey. They are there in abundance as Turkey is one of the major exports hubs for Renault. Some models like Megane and Fluence look quite good. Even their Renault Symbol, which is used as taxi, police car and you name whatever other purpose, is a well built car.

Yes, but both Megane and Fluence are not mass markets products in South Asia. No firm starts an assembly line hoping to sell a few hundred cars. I assume Renault in Pak wants to compete and sell thousands/month.

I personally would not buy a Renault but they are affordable cars and much better than the suzuki junk in Pakistan.

Renault's success in Pakistan will depend on what models and prices they market those at.

Clio may feel like a nasty car but it has high sales even in UK. It is a low insurance group with cheap parts and decent fuel economy, and usually a first car for many young drivers (& parents) on budget.

Toyota and Honda are the gangsters ... these run of the mill car showroom owners are ... let's leave it at that!
