Ram Rai was the son of the 7th guru who was passed over for 8th guru in favor of his 5 year old brother because he went to the court of Aurangzeb and changed verses in the Sikh scriptures. After the death of his little brother he was again passed over for his grand uncle who became the 9th guru. During this whole time ram rai stayed in the mughal court and made a lot of friends while gaining influence. Anyway he used that influence and told Aurangzeb that his grand uncle was pillaging Punjab and that he should be punished so Aurangzeb gave an arrest order which led to his execution for the charge.

Objective was to 'domesticate' the Sikh which has been successfully achieved. It took two 'dozes' (Op Blue Star, post Indra riots) which have since sufficed. They have been convinced that both of them were the fault of Congress not India, despite the fact that it was India which elected Congress....many times after that too. If this doesn't validate the argument that both 'dozes' were ratified by India itself, i don't know what would.
