Religious minorities experiencing Genocide in Pakistan: PAKISTANI Scholar

I would not call it a genocide even though I am forced to admit that the situation of minorities is not even barely optimal. Genocide is state sponsored, motivated and complete culling of minorities. That is not what is happening in Pakistan. Instead there is state sponsored discrimination and individual/religious organization based discrimination, not genocide. Discrimination against non muslims is everywhere and most against Hindus and Christians while the Parsis have it a little bit better.

I agree at least on this aspect - genocide as we understand it today may be too strong a word in this context. But Pakistan has managed its minorities much worse than India - and that is a low standard. Even China has managed its minorities better (which is not saying much).

Pakistan is the lifeblood of muslims in South Asia and there is still a trickle of muslims migrating to Pakistan controlled parts

Except for movement across the LOC I am not aware of any movement of Muslims to Pakistan - from any state in South Asia. You are welcome to cite immigration statistics if they are available - but I believe you will not find any favourable numbers. And notwithstanding religion my perception is that Indian Muslims would rather be somewhere else - GCC maybe rather than Pakistan - assuming they are unhappy with India.

And she is educated, erudite and celebrated exactly where??

She is as erudite as Lodhi or any of the diplomats representing Pakistan - and you only have to watch her speak to figure that out. Merely because she does not subscribe anymore to the implausible narratives spun by people like Lodhi should not besmirch her character. I find it amusing that people like her and her husband were considered credible simply because they toes the officail line but are being character assassinated for articulating differences. [Unlike Tarek Fateh who never was an 'official' guy]

.
Many Pakistanis have Indian relatives . What prevents the Indians from joining the Pakistanis in Pakistan ?

There is no simplicity on my side. I know the facts.

It is Pakistan itself that stops them from coming to Pakistan. When was the last time Pakistan invited anyone from India to come live their country?

We all know the miserable situation Indian muslims live in India. They would accept anything that would help them to escape conditions they are living in. But then Pakistan has closed its doors long ago. Or else Indian muslims if they can afford are leaving India for Canada or Australia to leave India being a hell for them.

She is a nobody. Lodhi is official representative of Pakistan. Far better and far accomplished than this lady.

Just because she is peddling lies against Pakistan doesn't mean that she would be even somewhere close someone like Ms Lodhi let alone equal.

Except for some armchair conjecturing from thousands of miles away what makes you believe their lot will improve in Pakistan today? Things were a lot more equal in 1947 - into the sixties at most and quality of life would not be too badly affected. Today the basic indicators of development that matter to most people - mobile network penetration, internet speeds, banking, affordability of private transport, markets for business are still better in India - which is why Indian Muslims prefer to remain in India.

Well, she was a member of the assembly, a representative of the people, a spokesperson for the ruling party - quite comparable to Lodhi. My point is that she was a model of perfection so long as she held these positions; now - just because she has different views you're impugning her character. Shame

The guys we are talking about live in ghettos. Cannot afford to move out of their area and have lost their families in riots.

Obviously such kind of people don't care about fancy terms like mobile network penetration, internet speeds, banking, affordability of private transport.

But then Pakistan isn't willing to let these poor souls in.

She was member of parliament on a reserved seat and not on a general seat so no representative of anyone . She was a spokesperson for a party that is known for corruption.
So nope nowhere close to Ms Lodhi who has far more achievements than both this lady and her absconding husband. And I am just exposing the reality behind your love for this lady. But that love won't make her anywhere close to someone like Ms Lodhi.

Hindu Marriage Bill got enacted recently in Pakistan after about 70years, so much for condition of minorities.
What happens to these young Hindu girls who are abducted converted and married. What kind of life away from their maternal family they live ??

.
You are a minority in Pakistan if you don't have any money. No one discriminates against the lower class the way Pakistanis do.

Hindu marriage act took time because Hindus themselves opposed it for years.

Hindus want further amendments into the law regarding forced abductions and marriages. Will Pakistani senate bring those amendments immediately or it is going to be another 70 years ?

That would be done. It might take time. Just like any other law takes time. That's how things work in South Asia. Slow.

Our hate is for state of India and not Hindus only. So don't be under illusion that it took 70 years just because it was a Hindu marriage law.

.
what, do you even geography. Lucknow and Hyderabad are 1,100 km apart, both have been historically segregated by princely states .that's like saying my papa is from Bhutan and mama is from Goa .

unless you are saying both your parents migrated it makes zero sense.that one line tells how clueless you are about Indian history.

nonsense, governments always keep statistics like this, just to enter Pakistan you need months worth of paper works and multiple police investigations. if there were Indians coming to migrate in Pakistan your government will be the first to know.

lol pakiwe have 30 million illegal Bangladeshi Muslims living in India and here you are still spinning some made up bs saying my great great grandpa lol

lol comparing migrating for fortune to migrating for survival , France and India haven't fought wars. France hasn't threatened India with nuke threats or genocide India, or called us a enemy.

if a jew runs away from nazi Germany its not for fortune.

lol you guys literally responsible for that war , we have 30 million illegal Bangladeshis in India, 6 million Nepalis , 90,000 Tibetan refuges .
30 million bangali is ur own mess now don't cry Nepal is fully irritates from Indian monopoly again ur crying how about Lanka did u forget to mention where u sent ur army hmmm maybe u don't remember but how cud u forget ur indra :)
People have been moving every where and if hindus moving to India which is very exaggeration then it's good for them they can find all kind of Praying metering just like every muslim wants to move to makkah or madina.
Lol if u look the amount of indian submitted asylum in Europe and North America then u would not say who know u belong to one of those who seek the asylum against their country and after become the citizen they act the most patriotic of their birth hyprocracy is what u all know.

.
Problem of proof of Hindu Marriages could have been solved in law by Pakistan much earlier without even having a Hindu Marriage Act by simply recognizing Judicial Judgments Administratively Politically ,by the ways of Hindu Marriages as per local customs.

That would be done. It might take time. Just like any other law takes time. That's how things work in South Asia. Slow.

Please you can have as much problem with India as possible. But you have to make lives better for your own minorities at least the Laws should be in place. Anyways India has already allowed asylum for minorities of Pakistan. So u can take your own sweet time to legislate, we will take care of people who are able to reach India.

We are already doing that. Your advice is not needed. You meanwhile can sure that some nobody Canadian is not dictating Indian muslims on national television about their religion and their culture.

That is the least an Indian muslim can expect from his country.

  1. nope, we didn't start the 1971 war Pakistan did. east Bangladesh civil war already started , the war started after 10 million Bangladeshis settled in India.
  2. nepal is a sovereign country, just because they side with India doesn't mean they aren't feeding off our resources . same with bhutan 29% of Bhutans GDP is literally from indian aid to them. not including the subsidized goods and oils , that even our poor wont get.
  3. we dont have Lankan refugees ,also it was a civil war ,we supported both sides for influence as a result lost a PM .
  4. dont compare EU and US with Pakistan , if jews ran away from Hitler its because of oppression not because UK has more employment opportunities.
  5. know the difference between asylum and working on VISA

This lady is wife of this traitor. Opinion nullified.

If you have this man as your husband it isn't very difficult to understand where the hateful opinion stems from.

These "Pakistani" elite cannot even enter Pakistan. So much for being Pakistani. These people sell themselves to the highest bidder. We haven't forgotten how the husband of this wretched author sold visas to the American spies.

She, her husband or any other self-loathing Pakistanis can fvck off if they don't like it in Pakistan. If they cannot appreciate the freedom they have in Pakistan they are free to leave. They can write irrelevant columns, waste their time in self pity and fume from a distance. That's all they can do.

Pakistan is experiencing “drip drip genocide”, a noted scholar from the country has said, describing it as the “most dangerous” kind of wiping out of religious minorities in the Islamic nation.

“Right before the partition of India and Pakistan, we had a very healthy balance of religions other than Islam. Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Zoroastrians. (Now) Pakistan goes from 23 per cent, which is almost a quarter of its population, to three per cent today,” noted Pakistani author, journalist and politician Farahnaz Ispahani told PTI.

“I call it a ‘drip drip genocide’, because it’s the most dangerous kind of wiping out of religious communities,” said Ispahani, whose book ‘Purifying the Land of the Pure’ was launched in the US this month.

“It (genocide) doesn’t happen in one day. It doesn’t happen over a few months. Little by little by little, laws and institutions and bureaucracies and penal codes, textbooks that malign other communities, until you come to the point of having this sort of jihadi culture that is running rampant,” she said.

Describing Pakistan’s journey as “depressing,” Ispahani said that the country she grew up in does not exist today.

Responding to a question on the recent global trend against religious minorities, the top Pakistani scholar said it is shocking that today, countries like the US, which were known as the bastions of liberal democratic intuitions and values towards religious minority populations are now turning into places of hate.

“Whether it is towards refugees, whether it’s towards Jews who’ve been settled in France for centuries, Jews who’ve been settled in the United States for generations. It’s Muslims, it’s Jews, it’s Christians, but the whole world seems to be changing in a very ugly way,” she said.

“One of the reasons I wrote my book was as a heeding that the example of Pakistan is an example the whole world needs to watch. The example of India, of course, is different, because the Indian constitution actually uses the word secular.

“Even though right now there’s a tussle in India between two different weaves of the society, I would say, till today the laws still say that all Indians are equal citizens, which is still also the fact in the United States of America,” Ispahani said.

She said that some of the recent moves like Hindu Marriage Bill or declaring Diwali as a holiday is merely an eye wash as there is no concrete move from the government of the day to address the concerns of the religious minorities in Pakistan.

“It’s wonderful if the Prime Minister celebrates Christmas or Diwali, but why did his party give tickets for known sectarian murderers? There have been articles on this. There have been books on this. This is not me saying it,” she noted.

“This is my feeling, that until and unless Pakistanis themselves get up and reject, reject the hatred of the other and start understanding that people who are not of their faith are equal citizens of Pakistan, till those bills, till the Ahmadis, until all of the other minorities are not publicly and constitutionally allowed to reassert themselves as equal citizens of Pakistan, I think of all of this as eyewash and window dressing,” she said.

Ispahani said that the United States has “chosen to ignore” the human dimension in Pakistan over and over again because of its strategic and military importance.

“Unfortunately, no matter what Pakistan’s neighbours say, no matter what critics of the state of Pakistan say, the United States till this day has never stood by the people of Pakistan.

“They only stand by the state of Pakistan,” she said.

“President (Donald) Trump sounds like he is a tough man, and I sincerely hope and believe that he will take the right path,” said the top Pakistani scholar who now spend her time in the US.
Finally truth from a Pakistani on this issue.
