Maybe many of the Muslim women in UK are being forced to wear hijab and burqa ( abaya ) through a ghetto mentality.

And as I said about niqab in India, the Afghan students, as far as I know, tend not to wear the niqab or the burqa, though they may wear the hijab ( head cover ).

In my experience, the enforcement is typically by the father, and to a small extent by the elder brother in most south Asian origin families. Community plays a role by influencing these male members (since most female Muslims don't give a damn).
High earning jobs for the women, and reduced power in the hands of male heads of the family will easily take care of the veil culture.

Here is how I view this whole refugee influx into Europe:

A strong and fertile culture of Muslims is replacing a weak and degenerative demographic of Western countries.

Modern day Westerners live for this material world and not the hereafter. There is no superior motivating factor for majority of Westerners. They are only motivated for the pursuit of material and economic comfort which they call "progress".
