My bro had an acoustic, i broke the string and never bothered to fix it because no motivation. I want an electric because i want something that motivates me as i go along, not like learning a school subject where you only get the rewards in the end. So no :(
Tell me what guitar to buy. Budget is unknown but should be reasonable. Less than 200US$ preferably.

So, you really don't have any single guitar, or just don't have an electric guitar yet ? Too bad buddy, I have a drum and a guitar when I was still studying at campus, but those things I get from my brothers....and that drum is actually own by my brother campus...so it should be given back later :D
I had an acoustic, but now nothing. Can't play any. Just need buying advice.

What kinda music are you in to? Let me tell you, if you aren't in to the kind of music that involves guitars and if you don't want to learn guitar.

You will struggle. It's like a school class, the kid who doesn't like physics won't do as well in class as the kid who loves physics.

I can suggest you some guitars, that sound good, feel nice to play and are beginner friendly.
But it all depends on what you like playing, and it goes without saying, expensive guitars will almost always sound better, look better and feel better to play.

You don't have to go and buy a gibson or a fender to get the gibson/fender guitar. If your budget is cheap, and you really like American made fender strats for example, try to look for Japanese strats or Mexican strats (both with similar quality and unique sound), or even Chinese strats, the Chinese ones are the cheapest, but they also for some lack in the sound and feel department.

My advice to you is to go to a guitar store, or some place that sells musical instruments, tell the store guy your price range, and he'll probably have many brands available there, different quality guitars and you could make your choice then.

Oh and if you want to get an electric, consider stretching that budget, an electric won't sing without an amplifier. A cheap one could set you back $70.

I'll buy when i learn atleast a little, but could you please list a few models and prices? i'm okay with any brand fender, ibanez, gibson lp, yamaha as long as it's good and reasonably priced

I like metal and rock/punk/somecombinationofpop is okay too. I was a hard core metalhead but now I listen to everything because laziness=radio and radio=mainstream crap
So yeah, my main aim is metal. And I don't think my ears or hands are even close to the point where I could have any clue what guitarists mean when they talk about 'feel' and 'sound' and other jargon like 'pickups' 'active' etc. So any is fine, just gove me a few precise recommendations please. Also salesmen are never your friends, and I'm a very vulnerable buyer, 99% of my purchases I get ripped off - they'd probably overcharge and convince me to buy more than what i need or give me less than what i paid for; so I need professional advice if you have any for me :)
And lol ofc i know that, that's probably the only thing I know.

You're serious then. My first impressions are that if you're looking for a solid piece of wood and strings, your budget is tight.
I'm not saying you have to buy in store, go to one, get a for guitars and which you like.

But since you're a metalhead, acoustic won't do I suppose.

Oh and forget active pickups, that's a whole new level of expensive. My advice to you is to get a cheap gibson les paul copy, fender strat copy, or a fender squier. They are all beginner friendly guitars, iconic and probably won't let you down.

The pickups on those will do nicely for most things. But do not neglect your amp, a crap amp will make a really good guitar sound crap too.

For playing metal, I'd also give serious thought to buying a distortion pedal. Regular amp modes don't do a clear metal sound well enough, they always struggle.

Also check Ibanez guitars, these I found have good pickups, heavy duty stuff.

If and when you get a guitar, make sure you have beginner friendly strings, I'd say 8-9 gauge should do fine, 10-11 you might struggle with, also turn the action down so it's easier to hold notes and chords.

I actually wasn't aware there were different qualities of strings, so what you're saying is the lower the gauge the more beginner friendly? So I just get the lowest they have on sale right?
And turning the action down, the shopkeeper would do it for me or I could get some friend to do it :] Similarly for an amp, I have friends who have nice amps so I could always meet up (I'm gonna learn from a friend anyways) and also if I'm performing I'll use the big school amps obviously so no problem there.
And I'm coming to see the queen (lol) this summer, would it be cheaper to buy in UK? I live in freaking dubai, cheap things(water bottles etc) are cheaper here and expensive things(guitars etc) more expensive :(

An absolute legend above most musical legends!! He covers 'Hurt' better than the original artist in my opinion. I'm not even much of a country music fan and I love Johnny Cash. He transcends musical genres.

Another great JC song. I also really like it because they used it in an episode of Stargate Atlantis.
