You're going to have to deal with the fact that India will always maintain influence in BD, its a foregone conclusion- BD is situated in South Asia and South Asia is our concern. A growing nation needs to maintain a certain amount of influence- coercive or otherwise. A change in that status quo would just force India to change tracks and coordinate with whoever is in power and suborn them to cater to certain interests of our nation. Its a sine qua non of geo-politics, its up to you people to try and gain benefit for yourselves from such dealings.

Your concern is the land within your territory. 1.That takes us away from the topic really. The Lahore Resolution should not have been tempered. In that case entire Kashmir and Punjab would be with the western wing. Calcutta and Greater Bengal (incl NE) would have formed the eastern wing. There were plans to form a central zone with Delhi and UP. Hyderabad was to become another part to be called Nizamistan. Although not a Muslim majority, the dominant culture in Hyderabad State was Muslim.It was a prosperous state with people happy and affluent. They would have preferred to remain under the Nizam and be a part of the Muslim units.

2. Through the mischief of a turn-coated Partition, the Hindus - with the active connivance of the British Christians, advanced one step towards their goal of ethnic cleansing of Muslims from SA. The violent creation of BD has been another step forward. Had the political leaders of Pakistan post-Ayub been farsighted then BD would have been born amicably strengthening both units.

Bengali Muslims hardly ever ruled their own land. Quite naturally among many other things they have never been aware of geopolitics and its role on the preservation of a nation and its culture. Those who have been were marginalized by a vast majority and their clueless leadership who were only living in the here and now.

Islam awareness in Bangladesh is a relatively recent phenomenon. Islam to majority Bengali Muslims had been relevant only to the degree and extent as Hinduism was/is to their Hindu counterpart.
