In the words of Donald Rumsfeld and the Bush Admin., Pakistan's ISI should "soften up" and use "enhance interrogation" on Raymond Davis.

The Pakistani Embassy in US is equal responsible in issuing Visa to so called diplomats. Any how its in Pakistan interest to release Raymond Davis and in future make sure all visa to US personal are verified by ISI first.

If there is a CIA mission going on in Pakistani then Pakistani Ambassador to US is equal partner in crime by issuing visa to such people.

US is in Afghanistan and Iraq because there were people who welcomed them against Sunni extremists or rule and now are in power with US aid in their pockets. Punjab is a now seen as hub of Sunni extremists and there are people in side Pakistan affected by them who will support US to crush them.

Pakistan should release Raymond Davis who is here because some one want them here in Pakistan to protect them from Sunni militant and US can kill two birds with one stone Pakistani weapon program and extremist who threaten Indians too.

Even if conjecture, all the more reason to proceed with utmost care, no? :D

Of course, which is why Pakistan has laid down a ring of Rangers around Kot Lakhpat. I wish someone in Lahore right now can confirm, its very much a part of Lahore, shouldn't be too much out of anybody's way. Kot Lakhpat is not some far flung place in Lahore.

But it also means, that now you actually have to take a "panga" rather than just prosecute a case. The investigations should revolve around his anti-Pakistan activities too rather than just the killing of Faheem, Faizan and association with the killing of Ibad. That assurance given to Kerry that he won't be tried on espionage charges shouldn't extend to the fact that he won't be tried on terrorism charges.

If indeed he was assisting the Taliban carry out a nuclear and biological attack - that too in Pakistan - then we must be ready to take a panga with the US and start demanding US handover people higher in the food chain for prosecution. A good case study example would be that Raymond Davis has to be treated the same way India treated Ajmal Kassab.

Pakistan government must definitely recall Haqqani to face charges. In all probability he would seek asylum in the US, which would further weaken the US position if they grant it to him.

This should be now converted into an anti-terrorism case.

US official held in Pakistan 'is CIA' - Telegraph

An American official held in Pakistan after shooting dead two men is a CIA agent who was on assignment at the time of the incident, according to reports.

By Our Foreign Staff 11:30PM GMT 20 Feb 2011

Raymond Davis, a US contractor, has been held for more than a fortnight accused of murder after admitting shooting dead two men in Lahore in self defence.

Despite the incident, the US has insisted he is entitled to diplomatic immunity, arguing that he is an "administrative and technical official" linked to its Lahore consulate.

Pakistan intelligence officials however believe that Davis, a former special forces soldier, is employed by the CIA.
"It's beyond a shadow of a doubt," one official told the Guardian.

Rana Sanaullah, the Punjab law minister, told the newspaper: "This is not the work of a diplomat. He was doing espionage and surveillance activities,"

The allegations came as a US drone attack on Sunday killed at least five militants in South Waziristan, the first such attack since Davis' arrest on January 27.

Davis a CIA operative: Guardian | Newspaper | DAWN.COM

LONDON: The American who shot dead two men on a Lahore street, triggering a diplomatic crisis between Pakistan and the United States, is a CIA agent who was on assignment at the time of the incident, says a report in the Guardian.

Based on interviews in the US and Pakistan, the Guardian said it could confirm that the 36-year-old former special forces soldier, Raymond Davis, was employed by the CIA. “It`s beyond a shadow of a doubt,” said a senior Pakistani intelligence official.

A number of US media outlets have learned about Davis`s CIA role but have kept it under wraps at the request of the Obama administration, which fears that the disclosure could inflame opinion in Pakistan and possibly put Davis at risk.

A Colorado television station, 9NEWS, initially made a connection after speaking to Davis`s wife, who lives outside Denver. She referred its inquiries to a number in Washington which turned out to be the CIA.

The station subsequently removed the CIA reference from its website. Nicole Vap, an executive producer, said: “Because of the safety concerns, we decided to amend the story. But it remains accurate.”—Agencies

At least six people were killed in a US drone attack in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, reported a private TV channel late on Sunday. According to sources, three missiles were fired at a house located in Azam Warsak. After the attack, the drones continued their low flights in the areas which caused more fear among the residents, the sources added.
It is pertinent to know that it is first drone attack since Raymond Davis has been arrested for killing two Pakistanis in Lahore last month.

Your presumptions and source are false on their face. THE GUARDIAN has long been a yellow journalism sheet of the leftist socialists in the UK.

Here is the Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 story from THE WASHINGTON POST:

ISLAMABAD -- Stability and development in South Asia is not only important for Pakistan but for the world, said Pakistani government Sunday in a reply to U.S. comments on the need for reform in the troubled country.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that Pakistan is at risk of major instability which threatens the U.S.-led war effort in neighboring Afghanistan and it should implement reforms and stop fomenting anti-American sentiment.

She spoke as U.S.-Pakistan tensions are high over the killing of two Pakistanis by an American embassy worker. The U.S. says Raymond Davis, was acting in self-defense against robbers and qualifies for diplomatic immunity. But Pakistani authorities have refused to release Davis since the Jan. 27 shooting.

The Foreign Ministry statement replied to Clinton's concerns by saying it's in the world's interest as well to ensure Pakistan remains stable, a reminder who closely tied the interests of the two countries are.

"It is Pakistan's considered view that stability, peace and development in the South Asian region is not only important for Pakistan but has global ramifications," it said. The sentiment is one that has been voice previously, but was particularly pointed as it was issued in response to Clinton's speech.

The ministry also called on the international community to support its attempts to work with neighboring India and Afghanistan to promote stability and development.

The standoff over Davis also appears to also be exposing rifts within the Pakistani government, which has been trying to navigate between intense U.S. pressure to release Davis and domestic anger over the deaths.

On Saturday, the spokeswoman for the ruling party resigned just days after stirring a furor with comments that seemed to support U.S. claims of Davis' immunity. Fauzia Wahab has said her comments were her personal opinion and not the position of the party.

Meanwhile, Pakistani security forces killed 14 militants in a Sunday morning clash with insurgents in a tribal region near the Afghan border, officials said.

Four government soldiers were wounded but none killed, said Maqsood Khan, a local administrator in Mohmand tribal area.

Also along border, local tribesmen found two dead bodies of men accused by militants of spying for the Americans.

Area resident Salahuddin Dawar said the bodies were lying on a road near his house. A note on one of the bodies accused them of being American spies and of helping coordinate drone attacks. Taliban militants in Pakistan's northwest often target suspected spies.

The army has staged multiple offensives in Pakistan's northwest aimed at taking out the Pakistani Taliban in recent years. Its efforts against the group, which is distinct from but linked to the Afghan Taliban, appear to have had some success, but violence persists.

Playing with and changing wording on this PDF site is unacceptable. Trying too hard to turn a wild allegation into something else, which it is not.

I think it is too late for any more discussions or sepculations. Pakistan has tracked all RD's phone calls to the tribal areas and cameras confiscated from him and his flats reveal pictures of Pakistan's Miliatry Installations and much more. We know what he was upto, so no more he said she said.

.
Don't sentence him to death or release him, don't exchange him for Dr Afia or whatever crap. Get all the valuable information out of him, & act accordingly to secure Pakistan. If America threatens to end this "alliance" on the WOT, don't fall for the pressure tactics, the WOT cannot survive without Pakistan.

A breath of fresh air

“Involvement of CIA with Raymond Davis (who killed two Pakistanis in broad daylight) is beyond any shadow of doubt” is a veritable bombshell the ISI has thrown. And in an atmosphere of widespread public dismay on account of the feeling that Pakistan is resisting US pressure about the Davis affair only by taking shelter behind the court case against him, ISI’s fearless exposure of CIA’s designs against our national interests, as given in this paper’s exclusive story yesterday, comes as a breath of fresh air. It would further deter the federal government from buckling under the US pressure. It must be stated that but for the fear of judicial anger and public backlash, it seemed likely that it would submit to threats from American officials and quietly agree to repatriate Davis after giving him the required diplomatic immunity cover. Other complicating hurdles to releasing him have been: first, the Punjab government’s refusal to ignore the gravity of the crime Davis so blatantly committed and let him off and, second, former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s outspoken details, given to the media, of the American manoeuvrings to wangle for the killer diplomatic immunity from the back date.

ISI sources, while acknowledging that the professional relationship, which the premier intelligence agencies (CIA and ISI) enjoyed, has grown stronger over the years, for the first time came out in public saying that the conduct of CIA around the tragic incident of the murder of two Pakistanis has “virtually thrown the partnership into question” and “it is hard to predict if the relationship will ever reach the level at which it was prior to the Davis episode.” The Pakistani agency has done well to go on record in its criticism of CIA for its arrogance and leaking baseless stories to the media, adding the “insinuations of ISI helping in relocating and protecting the Haqqanis are nothing but insinuations”, which tended to put into doubt Islamabad’s sincerity about combating the curse of terrorism, and regretted that it failed to show respect to the mutual relationship. It was also reassuring to hear the clear-cut assertion from the ISI source telling CIA off that it should not remain under any illusion that it would work against Pakistan’s national interests in compliance with CIA’s wishes. In his words, “It is unfortunate that the CIA leadership fails to understand that the ISI works and will continue to work for national interest regardless of the desires of CIA.”
