Raymond Davis saga: US warns of moving International Court

Courts?? They have enough bolts already to tighten on pakistan.

Asim aquil, I read your first post. SO you want pakistan to try RD and deny him diplomatic immunity??

It is just plain jingoism, unpractical and lame. Do you know the cost of pakistan doing all this? AGree or not, your nation depends on US left right and center. Pakistan cannot survive for even one day if US takes its hands off. Pakistan is at such a position right now that it cannot choose stuffs anymore. I have a very apt proverb in my mind on this but it may infuriate others.

^^^ Are you not open to counter opinions??

BTW, those are my personal opinion.

All these issues have been discussed ad nauseum in previous RD related threads...

They are at the bottom of the screen under 'Similar Threads' if you scroll down.

There has been no discussion what will be outcome if RD is sentenced. The purpose of this thread seems to be to create public opinion to sentence RD.

This cannot happen for a diplomat as he has immunity from criminal trial. So what is the purpose of this thread, is what I ask.

In any case if RD is not released then there are very severe implications on pakistan. So whats the use of creating public opinion? This is naivity

If it can be established that RD lied on his visa application, then he has no diplomatic immunity.

It seems to me the purpose of this thread is to follow developments in establishing RD's true identity.

Tell me frankly is it in pakistans interest to anger USG?? And that too at this critical time when ombaba is prepairng for re elections?

And the onus rests on the visa issuing authority that they did not verify the details. FOr US they have this argument that some details they may have withheld in Visa application since the man was on a special mission and a spy. But still he has diplomatic status.

Already discussed elsewhere.

You've got to be kidding! Just read what you wrote. Do you think India would accept it if some foreign country sent its operatives under false pretenses and false identity to conduct covert operations within India?

And, no, a visa is not a fool-me-and-you-win proposition. It is void whenever the application is proved perjurious.

Sir Your argument revolves around the premises of India-Pak-equal-equal.

Which is not the case right now. Had it been any other country your argument would have been valid. But in case of pakistan we have already seen enough bending over to US on matters even graver/murkier than the RD affair itself.

How does it makes sense for pakistan to confront with US, especially provided that US is the feeding hand for pakistan to survive. India is not in the same position as pakistan, mind you.

These all arguments that matter will be decided by courts, immunity, morality etc means nothing to US. It will be able to get RD released by any right/wrong way it seems appropriate and there is very little pak can do. When question is of survival then confrontation is not advised- My View.

snore...

Not only Pakistan will survive, but the US will not stop giving aid. Nothing would make me happier if the US stopped giving aid. This nation has enough power to support its country at a time of need, it just needs to show us that it is ready to do the difficult and right things for its citizens.

A simple human being, a moderator of the forum who returned from the west during the floods crisis, managed to raise about 800,000 rps, and physically went to the affected areas and gave food and water to the needy. Give Pakistan to Pakistanis and they will remove this scourge of American aid.
