Tuesday, June 12, 2007 08:20 IST

NEW DELHI: Sending shockwaves in the country's highest and possibly
the most secure place - the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) —is an
espionage scam involving an undercover Bangladeshi spy. Dewanchand
Malik posted as a high ranking deputy director of the Research and
Analysis Wing (RAW) for five years is absconding now.

The alleged infiltration of the PMO's office was revealed after Anuj
Bharadwaj, director, Aviation Research Centre, who is working in the
Cabinet Secretariat, registered an FIR at the Lodhi Colony police
station. With no trace of the alleged mole, he has been declared an
absconder.

The alleged Bangladeshi spy, Dewanchand Malik, alias DC, was working
in the PMO's Cabinet Secretariat as deputy director of RAW between
1999 and May 2005. It is feared that Malik has leaked confidential
security information. He is also believed to have stolen some
sensitive documents.

As soon as the breach was revealed, a team immediately left for 24
Parganas in West Bengal to verify the residential address given by
Malik. However, locals told the team that Malik was, in fact, a
Bangladesh citizen.

Intelligence agencies have issued a lookout notice for the fugitive.
A team has been set up to probe Malik's disappearance.

Over the years, a spate of espionage cases has rocked the nation.
Joint secy in RAW, Rabinder Singh, defected to the US on June 5,
2004. In 2002, 12 former staff of the PMO and the Rashtrapati Bhavan
Secretariat were sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in the
Coomar Narain espionage case of 1985.

If this is true then this explains how we know so much about Indian machinations in South Asia.

Who is ' WE ' ? And if its not true then 'how will you explain you knowing so much' ?

Actually what this reveals is We dont put hot air gas information about presence of certain outfits in bangladesh.

Remember India has nothingto gain from bangladesh by de-stabilizing her other than letting know about the inside activities that happens in her soil against India by some autonomous groups.

TIMESNOW.tv - June 12, 2007

It's being described as the mother of all spy scandals. TIMES NOW has learnt that a Bangladeshi spy called, Dhimanchand Malik had managed to breach the country's highest and securest office - the Prime Minister's Office or (PMO) as well as the Cabinet Secretariat.

It is feared that Malik has leaked confidential security information. He is also believed to have stolen some sensitive documents.

What Malik knew

The shocking breach of India's top intelligence agency is compounded by the fact, that Dhimanchand Malik had access to the kind of information that an enemy of our country would die for.

Between 1999 and 2003, Dhimanchand Malik handled the North-East desk and was in charge of the intelligence collation. In other words, he had access to every bit of intelligence information on the North-East during that period.

In 2003, as the Deputy Director in the Cabinet Secretariat, Dhimanchand had 200 field officers directly reporting to him. Malik had access to troop movement on border and could have passed on invaluable secrets to India's enemies.

Since he also had access to important security alerts, he could very well have passed information on to the terror groups plotting against India. Malik also had unrestricted access to computer data and military radio intercepts.

Wow this is something major. So 'who is trying to stabilise whom'?

It's being described as the mother of all spy scandals.

The Brits had Roger Hollis.

Its the nature of the game. Happens.

One should also consider the amount of disinformation now being pumped out by RAW as a face saving measure and to keep Bangladesh under pressure. If this alleged spy did so many things how come his cover was not blown earlier? Would it not have been obvious at a much earlier stage that he was damaging Indian interests or is RAW so incompetent.

The extent of his alleged activities. There is clearly some discrepancies in the stories.

- Delhi police probe ended inconclusively in December, 2006

- Delhi Police's report to Cabinet Secretariat states Malik is untraceable

Sources: RAW inquired through its agents that Malik is in Bangladesh

These 3 points seem a little too convenient an explanation and leaves everything very much confused. There is more to this story but the real picture is yet to emerge.

The Delhi police have no intel wing. So when they could not find Malik they closed the file and labelled him absconding.

RAW on the other hand used its resources and found out where he was.

Whats the big deal ?

If this is true then this explains how we know so much about Indian machinations in South Asia.

volte face.....my god.

You said just a few posts earlier that it might be due to his actions that India's evil designs were exposed on time. Now you say its another ploy to put B'desh under pressure.
Do mk up ur mind before you post!
