More than just confronting China, the West also fears an India-China detente. That's horrible for both the West and Pakistan. That is, the "support" for India comes from India's position of power and not dependecy as Pakistan's was when US was in its camp.

I don't think you quite understood what I said.
A detente would mean India and China wouldn't fight for whatever geo-strategic reasons in the future. That's what US and Pakistan should be afraid of. (I know, myopia and positivity bias urges Pakistanis to deny this, but one can never know what might happen half a century to a century from now)
Of course they want our support in the Pacific against China. They literally changed their over half a century old joint military command from US-PACOM to US-INDOPACOM. We'll keep playing the China angle to get useful concessions unlike Pakistan which wasted its opportunities.

It's not "smart" when people can literally after 3 clicks, in this very forum see that some Pakistanis here have no love for the West but are trying to shame others for the same.
