Rankings: Top 25 global cities of 2011

. . . .
Pakistan is not trying for UNSC seat.

I'm not sure how seeking UNSC membership related to this list here. :hitwall:
At the bottom of the list they clearly put how these rankings are measured.
This political power list is is based number of NGO and political organization headquarters, embassies and think tanks.
BTW, UNSC permanant seat is not decided based on this list, even I don't see any Russian cities in the list, it doesn't mean they should be stripped off their UNSC membership neither it means they have no political power.

Do you guys care to check, in the same link they have another link for Top 25 global cities for 2020, Predicted.

This last list here, the "Knowledge and influence" one, is a bit weird. Why is HK the only Chinese city ranked?

This particular ranking seems to be based on available media sources or something like that.

I think india is a rather uncentralized state much like germany, in france, uk or russia for example all big companies got their hq in the capitals. none of the big german companies has its hq in berlin, lol.

i personally miss melbourne in that list :(

On a daily basis I see 25 such list, each every time positioning each and every city and country at different places.so nothing big aboyt it.

But what surprised me in this list r cities like Rio,Delhi ranked even below Cairo.

Also the economic activity ranking in which China have two cities equivalent to that of US,even though US economy is more than double.

Also I donot consider LA below than that of Beijing and Shanghai in economic activity, the GDP of LA is even double than combined of Beijing and shanghai.

The knowledge and influence ranking doesn't make much sense to me either. For example there's no way Sydney could rank above Beijing with its lesser universities and less influential media. Maybe the researchers got drunk and thought News Corps is headquartered in Sydney?
