Rangers’ officials shot a man dead when he failed to pull his car over in the Shah Faisal Colony area of Karachi on Tuesday, police officials confirmed.

Express News correspondent Nadeem Khan reported that Rangers signalled Ghulam Haider to stop his car but he did not, over which the officials opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
Haider’s car consequently collided with a motorcycle, injuring the rider.

Police said that no criminal record of Haider was found in any police station and no weapons were recovered from him. The Rangers have given no official statement as yet.

The residents of the area protested in front of Shah Faisal Colony Police Station but were soon dispersed.

Further investigation into the incident is under way.

Pathetic. Nawaz Sharif is back to his old ways, killing off non-Punjabis through his forces :flame:

so if Rangers let this guy who didn't stop go and he then hit a building and 100s of people would have blown up who would have been blamed?

now the rangers looked at the situation and thought best to fire inorder to save a bigger problem if this guy was a terrorist! they are being blamed!

IF POLICE OR LEVY OR RANGERS ASK YOU TO STOP YOU MUST STOP! sorry but Pakistan is at war with NAA MALOOM AFRAAD & TTP!

so I don't blame the rangers at all

Rangers are trigger happy when they have innocent man but thay cant get hold of terrorists or mafia gangster as all are politically connected.

Karachi problem is not operation clean up, it needs a political clean up. If this issue is not addressed politically, no operation will bring lasting peace to Karachi.

Rest in Peace to the innocent man and may Allah give his family saber !!

and the rangers who killed him should face a trial, punish if guilty, and forced retirement in case he is not found guilty, as his better judgment is flawed..

The guy was at fault , you cannot blame rangers in this .

How do you know who was at fault when the investigation is not yet complete? We should wait for those results.

We should wait for the investigation to complete to see whether a trial is needed or not.

Similar incident happened in Rawalpindi, but here a bystander got killed instead. Security personnels need to be extra careful before squeezing the trigger in crowded places.

When you are told to STOP by Security Agencies you have to STOP, it is called common sense .

If you think you are so special , that you are exempt from security check , then yes you are at fault .

Rangers did the Right thing , What if it had been a terrorist ? what if he was a Target killer & had killed 10 more later on ?

it is very easy to sit in front of a computer & talk ..... when you have to stand in the sunlight for 14 hours a days , just to make sure that no suspicious Activity happen , Then i will see what you say.

Common sense dictates that in a place like Karachi, when the Rangers tell you to stop at a picket, you friggin stop, PERIOD. There is no possible excuse.

The CCTV showed the guy actually sped up and zigzagged through the traffic. Idiotic behavior.

There was a case like this in Bannu or somewhere in those areas, where the police signalled a car to stop but they didn't, police opened fire and recovered a suicide jacket and a Afghan national from the car.

A Ranger sepoy earning 15k a month isn't mad to first get the gun from safety to auto, load it, aim and fire in a busy road for no reason!

So you are sure that the Rangers stopped the car according to proper procedure? Was their intent visible or audible to the driver appropriately? Did the driver ignore that order on purpose? What was the speed of the vehicle and did the stop order leave enough stopping distance for the car?

Those are all facts that the investigation should, and likely will, look into. Otherwise, why not declare that the "Rangers did the right thing" and "the driver was at fault" like you just did as a kneejerk reaction, and end the story?

That evidence should be taken into account by the investigation. Was he going to the hospital in an emergency?

Right now Rangers have the Orders to Shoot any suspicious person at sight .... the whole Karachi knows that ... but there are some idiots who choose to ignore every thing ... and pull of stunts like these ... If he was in an emergency it takes 20 seconds to stop the car & explain that , ... if you have Common sense you do not speed up you car at a check point .

Pak army do the same in khyber pakhtunkhwa, when you dont stop at specific distance from check post , they would open fire on you without hesitation......in our area army at the check posts opened fire on the car which was coming at great speed, killing husband and wife who was during labour, they were rushing to hospital which was outside town.

Two years ago i was going to home town from peshawer in passenger coach and near karak army caravan opened fire upon us from behind. Either they were warning shots or they missed it. The driver gave full accelaration to coach to get out of range.

Only police know how to deal with public on check posts, and are experienced in identifying criminals and terrorists.

Like I said, it is wiser to wait for the investigation to complete rather than jumping to conclusions.
