Here we go again. Just like last year, we have another invasion of celebrities turned religious on TV. From the likes of Amir Liaquat Hussain to Junaid Jamshed...

Yesterday I was watching a TV channel and there was Meera in there doing all those goody talks and Mashallah and Inshallah! Similarly there are alot of cases.

So what are your opinions on this? Are they really a good religious show or just another commercial gimmick in the name religion? Right or wrong?

No harm in it, in my opinion. People can decide to watch what they want. Most people watch TV though for entertainment so you would see people like Aamir Liaqat and Meera kind being a hit.

Meera provides looks and drama baazi while Aamir Liaqat is good with entertaining and providing some basic deen info.

The viewers should have the widest variety of choice of programming. Let them choose via their remote. If you don't like any program, just change the channel and go watch something else you like. Simple.

Well, maybe we should just be truthful about the FACT that we are not really into this stuff in a meaningful way - because we are now in a position where we are blaming media for providing what the people want.

BTW, if you need evidence that we are not into this whole religion stuff and engage in it with out any idea of the MEANING of sacrifice and tolerance:

[Protests rage as Sehr, Iftar outages anger people]

NOWSHERA: Protest demonstrations were held in several cities and rural areas of the country on Saturday against loadshedding during Sehr, Iftar and Taraweeh despite the government’s announcement not to resort to power cuts during these times in the holy month of Ramazan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak warned that he would lead protests against power outages if the situation was not rectified forthwith.

Excessive loadshedding in the urban and rural areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forced the people to take to the streets on Saturday against Pesco and the controlling authorities in Islamabad. The protests were staged in the inner parts of the city where people lamented that loadshedding had multiplied manifold.

The protesters said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is producing electricity in abundance but its people are being subjected to the worst power cuts. A big protest was staged at Chamkani village close to GT Road. The angry villagers made announcements on loudspeakers of mosques, inviting the people to come to roads. The protesters blocked Phandu Chowk.

Protests were also staged on the Warsak Road and Badaber village. The consumers said Pesco was defying the directives of the prime minister who had clearly said that there should be no loadshedding during Sehr, Iftar and Taraweeh timings.

They lamented that the power supply remained suspended even at Iftar, Sehr and Taraweeh prayers in Gulberg, Nauthia, Swati Gate, Qamardin Garhi, Zaryab Colony, Dilazak Road, Faqirabad, Gulbahar, Hassan Garhi and adjacent areas of Peshawar.

its like saying some media doing indian propaganda by recieving money and favours from india should keep running, whether or not it has the credibility or zero credibility

Of course. Let them say what they may, and trust the public to be wise enough not to give them credibility. Just change the channel and don't watch it. Censorship never works.

those channels which dont have the credibility or are involved in taking bribes and involved in other crimes should be banned

That approach is ultimately self-defeating and never works in the long run, Sir.

excuse me but they are breaking the law by not proving their credibility just like geo news doing propaganda against its own country by accepting bribes from enemy country

i dont see where i have said anything wrong here?

any news channel which doesnt have credibility should be made to correct itself or should be banned i dunno why are you calling it 'self defeating'
