Ramdev keen to introduce yoga in Pakistan
Press Trust of India, Wednesday March 31, 2010, Kathmandu

After establishing yoga centres in Nepal, Baba Ramdev is now eyeing Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to popularise the traditional Indian fitness system in the subcontinent.

Ramdev has just opened yoga centres here said, "I want to take yoga to Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and want to link it with Buddhism."

When asked about taking yoga to Pakistan, Ramdev said," I also want to go to Pakistan where people are keen to learn yoga but I cannot afford to risk the lives of my instructors and disciples with an open air yoga camp in Pakistan given the current political situation."

Ramdev said he will also use yoga as a tool to canvas for votes in the 2014 general elections in India and would "field candidates who are responsible, honest and hard working."

He said,"Politics in India is sham. It has failed to take the benefits of education and economic development to the common people."

"People say that there is no scope for honesty in politics and I want to change this notion," he said.

Ramdev said his party 'Bharat Swabhiman Andolan' has decided to contest election as it wants to change governance in the country.

When asked whether he would form a coalition with any political party before or after elections, Ramdev said, "It is too early to comment."

"In politics, coalitions are formed when there is no option" he said adding, "We will give them an option."

He probably does not know Yoga was banned in few Islamic countries declaring it Non-Islamic. There is no harm in desiring for something and Mr Ramdev should only keep it as a desire. If he ever wishes to travel Pakistan for this purpose he might have dangerous to his life

not banned in pakistan.

but how is it against islam? anyone?

Guess Yoga was banned in Malaysia or somewhere for being un-Islamic.

It is better that the man doesn't come in Pakistan to teach Yoga.

I mean it has been Declared Un-Islamic by Malaysian Clerks so Probably Pakistan would follow the same.Besides we have Prayers as our own version of Yoga.

The same Nut job who declared terrorism a genetic defect in Kashmiris?
Just hope tht dirt doesnt enter our side of the border.

It is Paksitan's choice if they dont want him to come to Pakistan. But if he comes there, he would teach yoga and not genetics. And FYI, he is one of the best Yoga gurus in the world today probably next only to BKS Iyengar.

I think its to do with the word Om that most hindu yoga teachers make to recite as a warm up. but that is not necessarily the word to be used.. Any other word that relaxes you and brings peace to mind can be used..
