Did you even go to Purbachal? This is not siltation soil, but a semi hilly area with reddish earth.. You should go and check this out. This was part of the Moduhpur forest
Very few places in BD the soil bearing capacity is over 5 t/m2. I have seen reddish soils in Rajshahi, Naogaon, Savar and in many other places. Even a 5-story building is difficult to construct without piles. We can see all those high rise buildings in Dhaka, all are on the piles. However, a skyscraper needs rock layer at its bottom. I do not understand what kind of foundation system will be constructed to bear the heavy vertical and lateral loads of a 142-story structure in a weak geology.

To the proponent of 142-storey structure in Purbachal, I ask solemnly to send us the soil boring logs prepared after doing the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) to make us understand that such a skyscraper can be built in that swamp. This project seems to me a scam whereby AL and foreign groups both are benefited. No where in BD soil such a large structure can be erected unless there is a rock strata, say, 50 meter below the surface.
Sears towers is basically standing on a swamp tbh. Clever engineering.... So is Burj khalifa standing on shifting soft sand.

Not necessarily.... Burj khalifa had the same problem.... But it doesn't have any bedrock layer underneath. All soft sand....

Its only the manhattan of new york which has a rock layer which made construction cheaper nothing else.
There are very clever engineering where you can harden the soil whil piling.
Nobody going to spend billions without making sure that their building going to last for a century.

A company spends billion dollars by knowing that the return will be lucrative. Dubai is so different being free port where people from any country can come and go on business. I wonder, how the Purbachal scraper is going to earn foreign currency. Even before the digging starts the company will think of the business prospect.

Engineering parameters of no two sites are same. But, people are talking of Dubai Burj Khalifa. Note that there is no rock below there. So, the choice of foundation, therefore, was thought of more as a raft. It begins with 192 nos., 1.6m dia. steel pipe piles (filled with concrete) that extend 50m below the bottom of the foundation. Above that there is a reinforced concrete "raft" that is 3.7m thick to support a building that weighs approx 500,000 tonnes. But this project was based on a radically different set of economic priorities. So, the 830m tall building has roughly a 54m deep foundation.

You have to understand not every soil is suitable to support a 500,000 ton of vertical load. Specially, it is more of an impossibility when the soil is a consistent clayee one that has a tendency to consolidate during long years of continuous overburden pressure. Clayee soil is a type of soil that, in many cases, drags the piles down, whereas the sandy soil works to support piles with the frictional force. So, in Dubai the soil being sandy, supported the piles with friction. Will the Purbachal piles work as friction piles or it will drag down the piles? No one really knows it until soil boring test results show the type of soil below.

@TopCat can answer the question if soil boring tests have been conducted or not. Burj Khalifa borehole tests were done up to 80 m below the ground.

Who told you Sears Tower is floating on swamp? Do not speak false of a subject that you just do not know. Structurally, the building pioneered the use of bundled tube construction. The tower is composed of nine bundled structural tubes resting on reinforced concrete caissons that go down to bedrock. Now, you will come out with your own personal definition of caisson.

watch this to understand what i meant about burj khalifa, shifting is not highlighted in your words and clearly you haven;t been to the middle east to see what kind of contrcution techniques are used to build building in such unstable grounds.....

I think that area is already getting a very large stadium. Plus a massive expo, gov office's being relocated to there and embassies etc.

If the plan were to build a financial district there then I will rather not have the stadium there which will cause huge disruption of traffic at the time of big matches. Not a good idea.

Everything has to be in the same place. That's the Bangladeshi way of doing things.
