Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad number 1 in the world

In Mumbai, even slums are named after the Congress leaders, like Rajiv Nagar & Indira nagar...but then the moment they give a Congress leader's name to a slum, they get legalised automatically...

Thats a** kissing of the highest order and it can do wonders in India.

I remember in UAE, police issued directives to remove tinting in car windows even if that tinting is made in the form of posters of local sheikhs and this is a country where you can find the photos of sheikhs in every nook and corner. for them, security is more important than reverence to leaders.

But these slums then automatically become the congress's vote banks...

My question is, how it rank in all airports , at least I did not see it in the first twenty.

I think it ridiculous, just like Chinese claim that China rank no.1 in the countries which have more than 1 billion population .

. . .
For the year 2009 , Hyderabad was the 5th best airport worldwide.

ASQ Top Performers 2009

BEST AIRPORTS WORLDWIDE

1) Incheon (ICN) 2) Singapore (SIN) 3) Hong Kong (HKG) 4) Beijing (PEK)

5) Hyderabad (HYD)

It seems there are no "best" airport worldwide. There are all classified under regions/number of passengers. HKG probably can be labeled the heavyweight champion.

WTF? Why the dickens is everything named after Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Nehru? :hitwall: The next airport will probably be named Sonia Gandhi International Airport. Why not Rahul Gandhi Safai karamchari yojna?

my own views

1. Singapore Changi
2. Hongkong New
3. Beijing Int'L
4. Tokyo Narita
5. Shanghai Pudong
6. Chicago O'hare
....

From your link, the top 5 best airports worldwide:

1) Seoul
2) Singapore
3) Hong Kong
4) Beijing
5) Shanghai

Three in the top five, not bad at all. Though Hong Kong's position has fallen in recent years.

There are multiple parameters on which airports are judged such as:

- Annual passenger traffic
- Annual aircraft movements
- Soft aspects (aesthetics, technology, architecture etc).
- Non-aeronautical revenues of airport.
- Total annual revenues earned
- Capital invested

etc.

The top 5 airports here mentioned, far exceed the passenger capacity of Hyderabad and thus are totally different.

You've not tried Changi then. HKG is good no doubt but Changi just takes the cake IMO.

Though I love Hartsfield-Jackson too.
