Asia is flying high with its swanky airports bagging top honours. What's even more interesting is that three airports from India have been ranked among the world's best.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad

For the second time in a row, Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been rated the world's number one airport in the category of airports handling 5 to 15 million passengers by the Airport Council International.

Commercial flight operations began in 2008. It is the second public-private partnership venture in India. During Apr-Nov 2010, it was the sixth busiest airport in the country in terms of international and overall passenger traffic.

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the world's second best airport in the '15-25 million passengers' category.

The airport, with its five operating terminals, spread over an operational area of 1,450 acres, is South Asia's largest aviation hub.

wrong title once again,

It might be number 1 airport in its category of 15-25 million passengers but not the number 1 airport in the world. Busy airports like Heathrow, Los Angeles and Hong Kong are far above that. Its a number 1 in its own respective category

World's best airports are only located in USA, Europe, China and Japan. This Rajiv Gandhi airport is ranked number 1 among its kind of airports (15-25 million passenger handling capacity)

  so u want to say that India is not world champion in criket because there are other catogaries like womens or under 18 or under 16 etc.

Its obvious that one is talking about a specefic catogary.

Headline is misleading. Quality of infrastructure in India is surely improving but best airport in world probably be in Singapore or HK. Many world class big airports have been built in last 10 years. Quite a few in China, Delhi, Bangkok,Dubai....long list.

Well, this No.1 is really like the teenager level No.1.

You see, there are No.1 for those busiest airports in the world, apparently, the one you mentioned is not in that class. We can consider that No. 1 as Olympics champion or world cup winner.

Well, your No.1 is maybe some sub-18 level one. It might be mentioned somewhere in the margin of some newspaper. However, it is not that impressive though.

It is tough for you. But it is just reality. Otherwise, China will report such types of "achievements" throughout its newspaper.

Let me give you another example, when Chinese students win IMO, it is only reported in certain small area of newspaper as if it is not important. For some other countries to win, it will be a great news.

Why can't these idiots give some other names other than Congressi leaders' names everywhere? Sheesh for crying out loud! You don't see every single infrastructural achievement to be named after Mao or Deng in China as well despite being a dictatorship. I am sick and tired of hearing Nehru-Gandhi names all over the country. They should give some ancient Indian name like Krishna Deva Raya International Airport (of Viajaynagara empire fame).

UPA has transformed this country into Nehru-Gandhi playground. Even in here in Arunachal in NE, their main university is a Rajiv Gandhi University! COME ON!

In Mumbai, even slums are named after the Congress leaders, like Rajiv Nagar & Indira nagar...but then the moment they give a Congress leader's name to a slum, they get legalised automatically...
