Railway tracks from Karachi to Peshawar will be made gate-free and signal-free under the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to media reports.

A fence would be built around the tracks, similar to Motorway, and an underpass or overhead bridge would be built at every gate on the tracks.

Work on the project would be initiated from January. The first phase of the project would focus on railway tracks between Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

The signaling system in Pakistan Railways will also be upgraded under the project.

The purpose behind making railway tracks gate-free and signal-free is to make train journeys safer and faster for the public. The fencing and bridges would also lead to a reduction in accidents.

Once the project is completed, the tracks would be able to accommodate high-speed trains. The railways authorities have completed the planning for the project.

Signal free? Lol, what are they going to do? Send one train a day through that line?

Haha its a basic concept my friend

The track will not be shared with other lines and multiple trains will be used on the same track. It also means that you are not waiting for 2 hours in middle of jungle so that another train 100km away from you have to cross the track first before you are able to access it

Ofcourse.

But these signals are also used in sectors as a safety precaution in case the line infront of you isnt clear.

So calling it "Signal-free" is kinda mindfawking.

A good news for railway and for travellers
This will most likely be a freight only track. CPEC's connection to railways is must for achieving its desired objective lowering the time and cost of transporting freight from Pakistan to China vis-a-vis shipping through Malaka

Even that line is not signal free. Trains are usually kept a station away from each other but crossovers are still common even on the double line.

It's just a term adopted from Shahbaz's ideas for Lahore's roads. His fetish with "signal free" yet retarded-ly troublesome and counterproductive road layouts is pretty famous. The tracks would have all the signals, just the crossings would be minimised.

lmao.
That explains why

Excellent development. This will not only increase the speed of the trains but also reduce the risk of accidents and trouble for the traffic. This will pave way for faster trains i.e. bullet trains. The train journey will be much more fun in Pakistan than today.

NIGGA
SIGNAL FREE = MORE ACCIDENTS!

Unless the trains are released after the other reaching certain checkpoint.

CM Pencil will object to railway track going to Peshawar. (my point exactly...but dont worry he will think of something)
