Another good step to improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. In last month we have seen so much progress between Pakistan and Afghanistan relations. Where are all those idiots on this forum who called me a "Afghani" all year since I called for the better relations with the two brotherly states and end to Taliban support ?

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif will travel to Afghanistan in the last week of the current month for talks with the Afghan government on modalities for resumption of the reconciliation process.

The date for the visit had been decided, a military source said, but was not being disclosed for security reasons.

Pakistan’s strategy for resumption of Afghan peace talks and the army chief’s upcoming visit to Kabul was discussed when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting, which was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, COAS Gen Raheel Sharif, National Security Adviser retired Gen Nasser Khan Janjua, ISI Chief Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry and other officials.

Gen Sharif was initially expected to visit Kabul before the Heart of Asia meeting in Islamabad on Dec 9, but tensions in the relationship prevented the visit from taking place.

Take a look: Afghan Taliban signal willingness to resume dialogue

During President Ghani’s visit to Pakistan, the two countries agreed to end the blame game and restart the reconciliation process from where it had been suspended in July following the disclosure of Mullah Omar’s death. The resumed process would function under a new quadrilateral framework also involving China and US, which in the earlier version acted as observers.

The new framework also envisages a steering committee involving representatives of the four countries.

As the four countries wait for settlement of details, the timing and sequencing of the resumed reconciliation process, contacts with militant groups are already under way for convincing them to join the talks.

A final decision in this connection would be taken during a quadrilateral meeting of Pakistan, Afghanistan, US and China.

The meeting also discussed issues relating to the Saudi-led military alliance, which Pakistan has joined and matters pertaining to internal security.

. . . . .
Weak people negotiate , strong men , Conquer
Bad idea. Once all operations are completed Pak-Afghan border should be constantly under surveillance. No need to get too hasty and waste time, money and more importantly our precious Jawans lives.

Don't understand the point of leaving all that Real Estate unguarded , and left for terrorist to thrive on

We have established army , and we need direct link to Central Asia , with Afghanistan under our government , we can make a rail link from Gwadar to Central Asia

Create jobs for whole region and end Terrorist school and nurseries

The plain areas of region are great for Solar Power Plants and other energy projects

We have over population and having extra real estate is good to expand country and spread the population evenly across create 4-5 Metro cities in Afghan land

Explore the mining area and develop region as a province

  • We will have direct gas lines from Central Asia to Pakistan
  • We can run Trains from Pakistan to Central Asia
  • Trade route will be established via Rail from Central Asia to Pakistan
  • End of Drug Cultivation , if Afghanistan is province
  • New location for Airbases and Military basis
  • Increased tourism from Uzbekistan, Tajakistan, Uzbekistan
  • Travel of food goods by land , from Pakistan to Central Asia, Truck and goods moving jobs, direct from gawadar to central asia
  • Secure gas / power lines , by protecting assets (TAPI gas line , Iran gas line etc)
  • Development of storage facilities in Afghan areas for goods etc again more investment

In all scenarios Tremendous jobs would be created and better lives for people

Instead what we are doing ?
Digging useless trenches that people can just climb over

Every 2-3 weeks terrorist come from across kill folks and some run back and hide , there are rockets and bombs launched into Pakistani territory , Drugs are made which are smuggled to Pakistan and other region - complete mess

Should just invade Afghanistan and end the problem
We cannot invade Afghanistan , our army is already so much stretched . At the moment we can give hard blows by air strikes and going 10 to 20 km inside Afghan territory . But after Operation Zarbe Azb we can do that sort of stuff . I have a big question " What would be the reaction of the US army based in Afghanistan when we will attack Afghanistan ?"
