Raghuram Rajan, Narayan Murthy Add Voice Against Rising Intolerance

. .
May be, I am just disillusioned by both just few short months back I was thinking of joining RSS based on my understanding of their philosophy and interaction with some of the RSS members - I researched more about the ground realities and was shocked by the hate spread by fringe groups of RSS in rural areas particularly where I hail from.

I have never truly been at ease with Congress and now AAP folks either in Delhi and Eastern regions too - they have vested interests and are more concerned with milking the Muslim/Christian vote using the age old bogey of Hindu Fanatics. Sadly this has become a self fulfilling prophecy - the ghetto mentality reinforced by these secular folks has made the Muslin groups very insecure and frightened and their appeasement policies created so much dis-content among Hindus that the two groups are more inimical towards each other than ever.

Congress + associated groups and RSS both equally are to blame. I so wish there was a center party which could calm things and may be my statements are an effort at that wish fulfillment.

What makes you think that you are alone in wishing for a centre party? The vast bulk of Indians think the same. It is disheartening that you toyed with the idea of joining the RSS, though.

It sounds good to a neutral party- but - Uniform Civil Court but the perception that Uniform Civil Code is bad for Muslims has become reality due to demagoguery and we have to deal with this perceived reality further there are lot of folks who would not hesitate to fan fires all across India turning this into a anti Islam propaganda.

I am unaware of the such a statement from the RSS meet. I have the minutes with me. The general population control was discussed. The recommendations only include the curtailing of the BD illegal influx and unchecked conversions in the NE*. *The rates suggest the use of force - check the stats for Arunachal. A concern is natural. Is it not?

All religions are exploitation of people by priests and the clergy. No religion is exempt.

Sure, problem is the selective focus on one religion and the desperation to demonize it. You cry Islomophobia, i am saying Hinduphobia, catch the drift ?

.
Hindutva is essence, yes..Just like any other religion..But Hindutvavadis do not believe in it, just like any other radical elements of other religions.. Recent statements of many is an example for that..

True, Islamists would tell you how Jihad in essence means something very noble, but that is not what we see in real life, do we? No religious supremacists follow their words with action. They would talk tolerance but do exactly the opposite. But I do believe that Hindutva nutjobs would always remain a fringe group in India because majority of Hindus want none of that. (It is different on the internet though  )

People also once said support for Modi was only on the Internet.

I doubt it - Atal Govt was the best shot we had and they were voted out. When I came back to India - I though this Modi Govt would follow in it's footsteps and the early indicators were positive.

You have fallen victim to misinformation. RSS does not have fringe groups. :)

Uniform Civil Code is bad for Muslims has become reality due to demagoguery and we have to deal with this perceived reality further there are lot of folks who would not hesitate to fan fires all across India turning this into a anti Islam propaganda.
Unless there is one law for all, there will be a problem. In any case, one day will come when a substantial number of Muslims will call for a greater role for Islam in public life. By appeasing them today we are just postponing the clash. @vsdoc

. .
really, with that logic" All Muslims are terrorists" and all Christians are people who believe world is 6000 years old... Few extreme minority talk extreme and you stereotype and generalize the entire movement ?

You are not getting the point..I am not saying every Hindu is a Hindutvavadi.. There are certain fringe elements who are more vocal than before spreading hatred in the name of religion. You uave seen the sudden trend of spewing hatred more than ever.. The scary part is that there are people in the current ruling party who do that..Have you ever wondered what would be the feelings of people who born in this country and were loyal to this country suddenly treated as traitors and second class citizens just because of their religion?

@Spectre i would ask you to not read any news reports on RSS especially from English Media, if you see something controversial make sure you find th entire speech of that said person and read it entirely. AM not a fan of Mulayam Singh Yadav as you very well know, but his speech before 2014 which caused a hue and cry among sexists was also selectively taken out of context

Not really. After the disaster that was UPA II, a change was inevitable. Modi ran an excellent campaign and managed to capture the attention of aspiring Indians. He was a front runner all along. If you think that he is here to establish a Hindutva regime you are mistaken. If that was the case, we would have had Advani as PM a long time ago. It is absolutely true that lower ranked Hindutvavadis are feeling energized but with time that would subside, or at least I hope so.

Why it's good that the courts have taken the lead on this. The only way to get this done without massive upheaval.
