Considering the support issues from MIG and HAL's inability to build the naval LCA on time maybe the Rafale is the way to go.

if iac-2 and iac-3 are going to different design...imo that would be not wise decision....so we will hve 4 aircraft carriers with 3 different designs (assuing vikrant and vikramaditya are same ski jump designs)...this means more designing costs, more logistics, more production costs, more time delay etc...

what we should do is design one future design for all aircraft carriers after vikrant..in essence vikrant and vikramaditya will be same and iac-2 and iac-3 will be same...

the advantage is even though iac-2 may take some time to come than previous scenario...once it comes, iac-3 will be very soo...we will be having two operation air craft carriers (vikrant & vikramaditya) and can afford the little extra delay in iac-2...
