Depends on how much bargaining we can now do with the Americans after getting a government whose DM does not have reflexive anti-Americanism inbuilt. We are now building a new relationship, I wouldn't judge it necessarily with the old paradigms.

It will be a paradigm shift if we go for American fighters with strings. And do not underestimate American cost structure. They are masters to offers items to India in very higher costs. Javelin, and our other deals are examples. It is good to do JVs with them nothing else. Not much important stuff like transport planes etc is fine.

Also Boeing and the US have proposed to give technology even in the concluded brazil competition.

Might be too late, as you have already integrated Chinese avionics on it. But maybe for block-II, or in a mid life upgrade, if the Frenchies don't charge you an arm and a leg. From our experience...
