I've spent my entire life fed on the alternative view. I only joined this site 2 years ago?

Understand realpolitik, and understand how public perceptions are shaped. Understand your country's strengths and weaknesses. What does your country have to offer-culturally, economically, strategically? What aspect of your country is most covered in foreign media- which shapes public perceptions in those countries? A blanket statement like the entire world hates us- does little good.
