Racial profiling- 5 star Dubai hotel apologises

. . . .
The staff that she accused of racism are most likely Pakistanis and Indians, Arabs won't work as hotel workers in Dubai, also yes there's lots of African, East European and Iranian prostitutes in Dubai so somehow i couldn't blame them for profiling her.

This is true. The likeness of them being local Emirati Arabs is very low. So as one Indian user already mentioned in this thread they are likely to have been South Asian or Filipinos. Racism in those communities against Blacks is well-documented too. Among a minority obviously like anywhere else. I don't get the obsession about constantly singling out Arabs and Europeans due to history (slavery). Totally forgetting the millions of Afro-Arabs in the process of today.

Still, it's a wrong conduct and even if they thought/suspected that she was an African prostitute there are better ways to deal with such situations.

At least they have now apologized and they will think twice about doing something similar again.

Great,
And you wonder why Iranians and increasingly Pakistanis don't like you.

Nothing he said is wrong. Instead of writing nonsense make an argument to counter what he wrote. If you had any clue about Dubai you would not have reacted this way.

Pakistanis on PDF are not representative of your average Pakistani (dozens upon dozens of Pakistanis users have told me this themselves here and I know this to be correct too from personal life) and Arabs are not by any means disliked by Pakistanis or any Muslim people outside of Persians. Many are critical of Arab regimes but even more Arabs are that themselves, including myself.

Secondly Arab-Persian (not Iranian) rivalry dates back milleniums and have nothing to do with what you think it has. Even then many Arabs and Persians can have normal ties and in fact only a minority (mostly on internet forums and hardliners) are incapable of reaching any form for compromise.

Since the Arab diaspora is by far the biggest of all Muslim communities in the Western world (let alone South America where up to 30 million people are of Arab ancestry) many Arabs and Persians have interactions due to being both ME communities. From events as common as shopping in ME shops/bazars to doing business, to sticking together in crowds where non-ME people are present etc.

Also Arabs (second biggest ethnic group in the world after Han Chinese) don't need cheerleaders. The thing we need at most today is to get our shit together among each other (thanks to the crappy regimes and idiotic sectarianism). No offense.

Whether you like or love us is irrelevant for us we still consider Pakistanis our close friends based on history and personal interaction.

I bet that you have never met a single Arab in your life too. It's not like millions of Arabs are visiting Pakistan as tourists. Unlike Arabs in the GCC where MILLIONS of South Asians live of all ethnicities and communities. We know you very well and many locals have even learned some of your languages (Urdu etc.)….

How come?

He was referring to the oldest profession in the world which is as valuable a stereotype (overall) as everyone of the 450 million Arabs being terrorists.

But again I don't know of a single culture that encourages prostitution so it's obviously all based on economic hardships. We see the same here in Western Europe among certain Eastern Europeans (Romanians, Ukrainians) who do this to improve their life's economically. Sad but that's the reality. Much worse things occur in the world.

My uncle is a big shot in dubai..he owns a bunch of exotic cars and lives in a mansion there. He makes his fortune exporting granite from India to allover the ME.

Ok. Is it a secret that UAE has made many foreigners rich and is a very cosmopolitan society where rich/successful people of all backgrounds, nationalities and religions are based in? No it's not. The GCC as a whole is no exception although UAE is at the forefront for obvious reasons.

Well a alots of rich Indians are there and they have good relations with Arabs .And poor Indians like labours are also there which faces discrimination .Like that Arab member in here .This is all about money .
M A Yousuf Ali , an Indian who migrated illegaly to Gulf might faced discrimination during 80s .
But now he is one of most powerful men in GCC ,the guy has even close relation with Al Saud family .\

This is all about money.

Why should they not? The Arabian Peninsula and India have had trade relations for 5000 years

Trade and cultural links between ancient India and ancient Arabia date back to third millennium BC.[1]

Heptulla, Nejma. Indo-West Asian relations: the Nehru era. Allied Publishers, 1991. ISBN9788170233404.

Arabs have no beef or problem with Indians historically. Let alone the Muslim Indians which are the majority in the GCC.

Don't be silly and generalize when it comes to treatment. Read my previous posts.

It's no secret that the amount of money that you have is the biggest factor on your status here in life. It's self-evident and has nothing to do with race. Almost everyone will kiss your feet if you have money.

I don't know that person (M. A. Yusuf Ali) but I am curious to learn about his history and see if he really faced discrimination all the way back in the 1980's. From what I know from history what is now UAE today (it was always the most impoverished region of Eastern Arabia) was always very welcoming for outsiders hence why many Yemenis, Persians, Lurs, Iranian Arabs, Baloch and to an extent Indians settled. Dubai was not very developed in the 1980's either. It was a typical sleepy fishing village in UAE. Nothing of importance at all. Locals lived harsh life's and welcomed foreigners always.

I could've argued, but there is nothing wrong about what you said.

.
Indians treated badly in dubai?..I thought Indians owned dubai..there's billions of investment in dubai by Indians @levina

Taunt?? Is it??
Then am gonna give it a miss.

How many hotels have you been to and what kind???
Did you say Arabs don't work as hotel staff??
Lolzz

This is very uncommon in the UAE, I must say but because it happened and in a top hotel an immediate enquiry should be made. Problem is with our typical muslim countries where any cynical comments or questioning ways is considered treasonous even though people who are cynical aim to improve the society they live in.

Its because we haven't been raised on living in a democracy. The case of Jodi who was jailed in Abu Dhabi proves that at times the ugliness, and racism can rare its ugly head.
I'm afraid that's not true, airport terminals and access to duty free is a good example.

. . . . .
And where did i say that only Indians and Pakistanis are racists? i swear sometime i think most people on this forum don't even have eyes!
Yeah...it's about my eyes now.
Let me show you how you had pulled some blanket statements...

The staff that she accused of racism are most likely Pakistanis and Indians,
In short...whenever such racist incidents happen in ME, either Pakistanis or Indians are responsible for it....well "mostly". True??
there's lots of African, East European and Iranian prostitutes in Dubai
So you conveniently ignored the fact that there many Chinese and Russians who land here for the same purpose, though am not sure if they get treated the same way as the lady in question.

Not a taunt...I know of a few Indians who own big businesses in dubai..wouldn't have happened if they weren't treated well.

Well not everyone gets the same kinda treatment.
If you meant the EMKE group(Lulu,Life line etc) or the Shetty group then they are exceptions. In fact it's true that you don't have to face discrimination often, but there are rare ocassionas which might take you by surprise.
