RAC MiG suggests upgrading MiG-29 fighters operated by the air forces of Ba

BAF mig-29s are possibly to counter myanmar who also has mig-29s.So upgrade should be decided accordingly.

.
how the hell is 8 mig 29 going to protect Bangladesh? this is just a waste of tax payer's money. It is time, we sign a defense pact with India to protect 'our' skies.

.
The legacy versions have 7 hard points. The SMT has 9 - four on each wing and one on its belly. The MiG-29 does have TVC options if I'm not mistaken. Not all SU-30MK's have TVC, MKI (India) is the only known variant to have such a feature.

And please, do provide a source as to how the Flanker is cheaper to maintain than the MiG

I believe that is to make it compatible with the Phalcon which IAF operates.

I'm afraid my friend, Mig-35/Mig-29K/M/M2 has 9 hardpoints. Mig-29SMT/UPG/SE/S/B/UB has 7 hardpoints.

Mig-29OVT & Mig-35 has TVC option. Sukhoi Su-27SM, Su-30MKI/MKM, Su-34, Su-35 is known to have TVC.

India-BD are friendly state, Under no circumstance India will attack BD... Though India will not actively participate if BD-Burma war goes..

Yeah, the number is only 7 (corrected). The MKM is very similar to the MKI, not too much of a difference.

And no, Su-34 doesn't have TVC  It's a fighter-bomber and it doesn't need any of that.

MKM is effectively the MKI with all Israeli kit stripped out and replaced by French alternatives. MKM is a spin off of the MKI as is the MKA and RUAF SU-30SM.

The Sukhoi SU-34 (Fullback) is developed to address a Russian Air Force requirement to augment and replace SU-24/24B Fencer. Designed for supersonic penetration of enemy airspace at treetop level, SU-34 can carry eight tons of ordnance, and strike from a standoff range of 250km. At a gross takeoff weight of 45.1 tons, SU-34 can carry eight tons of external loads, including subsonic and supersonic air/ground missiles.

It is equipped with a digital weapon delivery system enabling high precision weapon delivery (accuracy within few meters) at all weather conditions. The aircraft is designed to penetrate enemy airspace at tree-top level using terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM) capability, flying at 1,400 km/h. SU-34 has a top speed of Mach 1.8, slower than the SU-30MKI Flanker. It is powered by two Salyut AL-31FM1 engines generating 13.5 tons of thrust.

SU-34 Fullback Supersonic Strike Fighter

Salyut AL-31FM1 engines:
The modernization of engines AL-31F to version AL-31FM1 (AL-31F series 42, serial No Item 99M1) began in about 2001 or 2002. Thrust increased from 12,500 to 13,500 kp. Time between overhaul was increased to 750 hours with the expected increase to 1000 hours. The engine got a new low-pressure compressor KND-924-4 with the inlet diameter of 924 mm, compression 3,68 and airflow 119 kg/s. Blades number of the first stage is unchanges – 37. The control system has been changed to the type of KRD-99C. The engine is equipped with all-regime supersonic vectored nozzle with life of 800 hours (of September 2007). Weight increased slightly to 1557 kg. Modernization of the engine version AL-31FM1 is firstly in the hands of the Moscow Salut. Motor AL-31FM1 underwent flight tests in the M. M. Gromov Institute on planes Su-27 nr. 595 and 598. State tests should be completed by July 2006, then required contracts should be signed and serial production can be started. In December 2006, it was decided that the engines AL-31FM1 will be admitted to the arms of Russia to fill the gap between the current engines, the fourth and fifth generation of future engines. Serial production began in March 2007.

Su-30SM is an upgraded varient of Su-30MKI. It took most of its materials from Su-35S. Su-30MKI is like the export version of Su-30SM.

This is untrue. The SM is itself a derivative of the MKI.

See:

Sukhoi Su-30SM: An Indian Gift to Russia

Before India pumped in the funds earlier last decade there was no SM or MKI. The SM is a derivative of the MKI just like the MKM and MKA. The RuAF is only now getting SM deliveries. It could be said the SM is a Russian-specific MKI.

Always sarcastic!!!:smart: The probable reason why Bangladesh has 8 Mig29s is because Mayanmar has 10. If you compare, BD military is a close match of Mayanmar military, plane to plane, tank to tank.....BD is better with upgrades!! :)

.
What is the life span of a mig? How much life is left on our planes? How will and how much will this upgradation improve the migs life span/effectiveness. ( sorry not military minded so surely have not expressed it correctly but you guys hopefully will understand what I mean)
22000 flying hours.... since the soviets thought of having to make planes in large number anyways during cold war...
you can increase its lifespan with a basic upgrade package for 40000+ hours but if you go overboard... a maximum of 80000+ hours. around 10-15 years
(note the numbers are conservative) and then you need an overhaul... you can do 3 overhaul on one aircraft... ours have done its 1st and can serve 30 more years according to pilots.

lol,

initial version of Mig 29 only had 2500 hours lifetime within their airframe, upgrading the structure of the airframe will only prolonged the life time into 4000 hours or so (depending on which batch and serial number version you had).

Mig 29 airframe is being known as unreliable and quite problematic. The maintenance cost is quite prohibitive, the reason why Malaysia retired their 20 fleets of Mig29 is because the operational cost and airframe structural problems in which plagued their operational readiness
