R.I.P., India’s Influence in Nepal

I am not sure how long it will take for India to develop some good will among the Nepalese again?
If not anything Nepalese now have a soft corner for China which supplied them gas and other commodities during the crisis.
Nothing like that. The individual Nepalese have always had some grudge against India.

But China is no alternative. Why? Language is the biggest issue. The biggest advantage for India.

Not much will change on the ground. They will have the same dormant negative emotions wrt India and still continue to work here in peace. :) It is not ideal, but what can be done?

This is classic small state behaviour within SAARC/S.Asia. The Maldives are playing the exact same game (as well as Sri Lanka)- trying to play off India and China against one another to extract the maxium benefits for themselves. They will sway between India and China depending on the way the poltical wind is blowing on that particular day- remeber all the drama we saw over the Male airport/GMK affair?

As long as these nations think they can be fed from outside by giants like China and India they will continue to play these silly games and remain in the dirt.

They may cozy up with China now but I'm sure their moods will change in a while once they feel the slightest bit aggreved by China- this is the standard over dramatic reponse of these nations.

Makes sense....a lot of sense.

How will we convey this to Nepalese ppl?
It's going to be hard, they will see any attempt to convey this as "Indian bullying/condecension". They really need to grow up and see it for themselves. The headlines from the Nepali Earthquake earlier this year were caught up in the vast inflows of aid and rescue personell but have any of those same Nepali reporters who have been lambasting India in recent weeks or idiots trending "Indiagoback" actually asked why exactly their nation required so much external assistance? Where were their rescue teams? Were were their SAR helicopters? Why did their buildings crumble so easily when they all knew a major earthquake was long overdue?

Until the Nepali people wake up and start seeing through their Leaders' all too convenient anti-India narratives nothing will change. Maybe a good start would be to stop standing out in the cold in London holding up placards against the Indian PM and protesting outside of their own high commision?

True.

How will we convey this to Nepalese ppl?
The Pahadis i met are generally against us ,because of Maoist indoctrination and partly because of external factors from our western neighbors etc..The Madhesis and others near the border areas(whom Pahadis call them as "Dhotis") consider themselves as us Indians. So don't waste your time convincing the not so friendly ones to become your friends, because it is a well oiled system of Communists.
Actually most of them put up a facade of we are different from Indians etc. in real life to show themselves as Nepalis not Indians. But i know when we talk about opportunities to work in India or what iam going to do in future, they will suddenly start loving you and India. This what is true for all the Nepalis who think they hate India. It's like you hate America but you love its Democracy Values,Lifestyle and want to live there.

Why are we worried about developing good relations?when we are historically bound.
Nepal can and already has a soft corner for China,That is why their Medical Council recognizes both Indian and Chinese Medical Degrees.
I just say let them embrace China more, then they will see them for who they are.
Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai worked out too well for us.
Why would you want to stop a Girl or a running bride from stopping? Let them go and RUN.

Sorry sir the nepalese communist party is conducting manderin classes to large number of nepalis, gradually they will learn it, we should not feel dumb struck if more Nepalese speak manderin than Indians, never take it easily, India has very less mandarin or Japanese speakers.
