PESHAWAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) has hit back at the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) after a coalition between the two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came to a sudden end on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.
In response to the expulsion of its two provincial ministers on corruption charges which ended the six-month-long coalition of the party with the PTI-led government in KP, QWP’s provincial leader Sikander Sherpao on Thursday said the PTI had itself offered his party to join Tehrik-i-Insaaf in the provincial government.
Following the dismissal of the two ministers, Sikandar had also stepped down Wednesday evening as senior minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saying his party had pulled out of the provincial government.
Sikander, who is a son of QWP chief Aftab Sherpao, further said on Thursday that the PTI never consulted the leadership of his party over decision-making when it came to matters relating to politics and governance.
He added that his party was not eyeing a place in the provincial government.
The two QWP ministers expelled from the provincial cabinet were Bakht Baidar and Ibrar Hussain. The former held the ministry of industries, commerce and labour, while the latter was the provincial environment minister.
QWP spokesman Tariq Khan on Wednesday termed the move ‘politically motivated’ and without justification.
A press release issued Wednesday by PTI’s media cell announced the end of its alliance with the QWP which has a 10-m
