Qureshi berates PML-N govt for neglecting South Punjab

MULTAN: Senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi rushed to the site of a deadly oil tanker fire which killed 142 people and left scores of others wounded in Bahawalpur.

Speaking to media persons on this occasion, Qureshi lambasted the PML-N government for failing to set up adequate medical facilities or burn units in Bahawalpur and South Punjab.

“Had the administration cordoned off this area timely, this human tragedy could have been prevented. But administration or police failed to even show up at the site of the tanker crash for one and half an hour,” he lamented. “The safety measures could not be taken.”

“Bahwalpur is not only a district, it's a divisional headquarters. And yet it doesn’t have a single burn unit. Our priorities are not correct. There are no hospitals. People have no access to safe drinking water."

The government, he noted, has been spending billions of rupees on metros and orange train.

"The South Punjab continues to face a sense of deprivation. This is the 10th year of PML-N being in power. Where are the billions of rupees allocated for the development of South Punjab?” he questioned. - SAMAA

There are burn units in Multan and Rahim yar khan but they were not enough so some patients were shifted to Lahore and Faisalabad. But what is PTI doing? Not even 1 burn unit in whole KP and they have to come to punjab for any burn injuries.

But there should have been burn unit in Bahawalpur . Every divisional HQ should have 1 state of art burn unit. Hopefully this tragedy will speed up work on that.

PML-N has been ruling Punjab Government since 1982. The only pause was between 1999-2007, or else House of Sharif has largely ruled Punjab since 1982. They couldn't build a single hospital over there, and here you're blaming SMQ for this. What was he supposed to do, build the hospital from his own money.

Maybe when his Highness Nawaz Sharif is done with London along with his 98 family members whom Pakistani taxpayers paid for to be transported in a private plane, maybe they should build a hospital there.

If such accident happened in KP then all of patients will had to be shifted to punjab. Now they are blaming N for not having burn unit in every corner of punjab while in KP they didn't even build 1.
