Questions Re Indian Orders Too All Members

I have some questions that have arose with India,s recent military discussions that are vague at the moment.

1. Have IAF actualy ordered /agreed the additional 42 mki order at $2.5 billion during putins visit in March 2010. Or is it yet to be signed.

2. Have IAF offically ordered the additional 3 extra Phalcon AWACS

3. I hear the MMRCA trials will finish in June. At wat point will a winner be announced i herd/read smoewhere it may be in Oct/Nov 2010. Can somebody confirm.

4. When will the next batch of Arjuns be ordered ??

5. I know Indian Army wants 300 light tanks for North East Indian Army facing China who are the contenders to win this order.

to your first question yes India ordered 42 mik's during putin's visit

Ans. No. afaik, It would be signed sometime later this year.

2. Have IAF offically ordered the additional 3 extra Phalcon AWACS

Ans. No. There is no official word. news reports indicate negotiations are on.

3. I hear the MMRCA trials will finish in June. At wat point will a winner be announced i herd/read smoewhere it may be in Oct/Nov 2010. Can somebody confirm.

Ans. IAF will supposedly take 3-4 months to give its decision (good/ better/ best matrix) acc. to ACM. Then it is upto the MoD/ CCS and MoF. Could be a year or more!

4. When will the next batch of Arjuns be ordered ??

Ans. There is no word on "if" it will be ordered. Thus the question of "when" does not arise.

5. I know Indian Army wants 300 light tanks for North East Indian Army facing China who are the contenders to win this order.

Ans. Army is looking at IAV Stryker. Since IA has not issued an official requirement, no one knows who will be the contenders. We will know that "ONLY" if there is a RFI/RFP. If we have a FMS deal then no contenders I am afraid.
