Question to Burmese friends

Dear Burmese friends.... I always wanted to know the meaning of Myanmar.. also the reason why Burma changed its name to Myanmar.... myself I like the name Burma.... what about you guys? You like to call it Burma or Myanmar?
I have visited your neighboring country Thailand which is really a beautiful country.... hope one day I get a chance to visit beautiful Burma....

Well, Burma was the name in colonial era. when we got independence, we want to leave all these things including its name. On the other hand, Some questioned Burma just belong to burmese which is the largest ethnic group of the country and not represented other ethnic groups. So to avoid these controversial things, we decided to change the name.

As for me, I prefer Myanmar. bro

Apart from great scenery of our beautiful land and beaches, we were the part of British India once, u can also see many indian culture and festivals in Myanmar. Welcome to Myanmar.

Thanks for the detailed reply bro. ... if Burma is a name of colonial era and my Myanmar brothers don't like or want to forget that name then I will now on always call it Myanmar.... yes there are many similarities between India and Myanmar.... in fact I love watching youtube videos showing Myanmar culture, food etc....

For me, I like Burma more because it just sounds so poetic and kind of describe the country in one word. But Myanmar is more logical since it includes all the ethnics groups.
