He even had relations with Lord Mountbatten. Lord Mountbatten was jokingly referred to as Lord Mountbottom in the British military.

Also didn't know Nehru was homo....that's sick **** if he slept with both Mountbattens :cheesy:

I'd guess shuntmaster was attempting a cheap shot....

So, these type of posts are not considered cheap shots?

What I had said about Jinnah was recorded fact. Whereas the slander that people are posting about Nehru and Mountbattens are only speculations and rumors.

Errr... no. Almost all the people who made Pakistan died within the 1st 10 years of it being made. In the 11th year a coup had happened.

Liaquat Ali Khan was alive till 1951, by that time India was a republic with a constitution and preparing for first general election, while the constituent Assembly of Pakistan was dissolved due to infighting within Muslim League.

.
so I just watched the movie "Jinnah" (1998) and just realized he died only one year after his dream came true.
And I'm wondering:
  1. If Jinnah had died 2 years before the Partition instead of 1 year after, would Pakistan still happen ?
  2. Was Nehru really banging Lady Mountbatten ? :disagree:

mountbatten wrote in his book that had he prior knowledge of Jinnah's illness, he would have delayed the partition.

yes, nehru was doing what you said.

p.s. hindu leadership was morally corrupt, nehru and as well as gandhi.

Probably not. His doctor (incidentally a Hindu) kept his secret and kept him functioning enough till he got Pakistan made. Otherwise if people knew of his illness they could have just delayed Pakistan and it would never have happened.

But then if he would have lived 10-15 years more Pakistan would have been awesome.

I guess he is referring to Jinnah's vision for a secular Pakistan that he never clarified unequivocally. People like Zaid Hamid take advantage of that loophole of history. Apart from that, I doubt he would have done any better than the jarnails that ruled later. For most of our joint history, Pakistan was doing better than India. The tide turned since the mid 90s. More than Jinnah's death, Pakistanis should blame Zia's birth for the present state of affairs.

That's only on economic front.

Congress was not the party of feudals and princes.

Let them whine, you know how Sardar Patel and Nehru foiled all of their dirty plans in princely states. First creating a nation saying Hindus and Muslims can't live together and then trying to scramble for Hindu majority princely states deep insider India.

It was the congress leadership who fought for Independence and suffered for it. British put them in jails for years together. On the other hand the no leader of Muslim League were ever put in jail by the British. They used religion in their politics, even though they were completely non-religious.
Gandhi's life and struggle has inspired many other fight for justice in many other parts of the world. Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela are two of civil rights movement leaders who were inspired by Gandhi.

The partition was symbolic as people who planned it envisioned separate governance, yet close ties with people of both nation

However , the chaos due to the migration and then uncalled for aggression seizure of property resulted in backlash and mistrust that has not healed

The partition it self was meant to be two countries found freedom and ideally should have been working closely and being trading partners and close allies

But .. stuff happened

Such images are proof of leadership and the closeness they had , leadership in india was killed due to anger felt by extremist on why money was released or some other issue ...

Jinah perished due to illeness and lack of facilities in Pakistan.

However after the freedom was attained OPPORTUNISTIC VULTURES took over

The following generations wrote history books tainted by their biased of wars , and Politicians took their chance to GAIN votes by making the wars and defense matters an issue

Then it got more political and LARGE budgets were given to certain groups for national security and thus an endless , rooster fight emerged ...

Show me one evidence that Muslim League fought for independence from British rule.
The only thing they did was to fight with Congress, first for power and then for separate country when it became evident that Congress was succeeding in winning independence.
There is evidence that Muslim league was being funded by British. Jinnah used to get a stipend from British via Nizam of Hyderabad.

Sir, AIML - (the party responsible for partition) was subservient to British Raj, did not participate in any movements launched against the british, did not fight for freedom of India. Period.

@Aeronaut, @Oscar

When giant leader like Jawaharlal Nehru's, personal character is being tarnished based on speculation, I believe moderators should discourage newer members from doing so, soon enough the other side wide deal counter punch with yahya Khan's moral dilemma to make this thread take an ugly turn...

If Muslim League was being funded by British , then probbly when British would have divided the assets of India they would have given more money , more territory , and certainly mroe "GREENER" areas.

Don't worry we also have same view that freedom was attained with out Congress or other parties :P. Those banyas were just eating cookies and drinking tea with British ..

Reality is - Freedom was attained due to world war 2 not as much as the movements if there was no war , I doubt England would have given anyone FREEDOM as we call it now

When I examine the maps, of geography I always wonder how did Muslim League Agree to getting barren areas where there was no farming or water..

Creation of two countries was meant to be moment of joy which is why the dates of independence were so close so people would celebrate the joy of Freedom

However ... due to ... territorial issues and then further territorial disputes and pressure groups who needed money , from budget created the boogie man syndrome against each other. With out the boogie man why would anyone spend on bullets ?

What exactly is the argument from Pakistanis on this? Please don't run blame game on the other side. Your whole basis of argument for new country was that Hindus and Muslims can not live together. In that case, why was that Pakistan tried for Hindu majority states?
