Having visted a number of institutions there were guarded by these queems guards - they do let you know in very clear and uncertain terms to get out of their way ASAP - ie they shout at you .. hard..... even tourists who dont speak english - get the tone - ie get the f--- out of my way.

This kid had to have this lesson in his life now - listen to your surroundings and pay attention. Guards are doing a job and it is not their fault.

The soldiers are professionals and not told to stop or divert. The young boy was not kept under supervision by his mum and ran towards them. The soldier actually stepped over him, and did check on the boy after the route was done. So no harm there.
As a general comment it is annoying that many tourists think that they are there for their entertainment or fun, they are there to GUARD the Queen.

Tourism is a mega business in the UK and show is put on to attract the tourists and guards parade theatre is a big part of that. Buckingham Palace is one of the top tourist attraction in the London and guards parade is the highlight of the day. Guarding queen is not the only aspect of the guards being their, its a theatre, pomp and ceremony and glamour and tourists seem to love that show.

I remember going to England as a kid and the horse mounted guards are not supposed to laugh, and a bunch of people were teasing them, trying to get some emotion out of them, one finally relented and we spotted a chuckle and everyone cheered, all in good fun, it is or at least used to be a bit of a tourist thing to do.. wouldn't dare get in their way while they're on the march though, that's just dumb.
