Quartz Nose Cone Increases LCA's Multi-Mode Radar's Range to 80+ Km - SP-2 Coming up Next Month

80 km detection range for 2square meter target is sufficient or what?

MMR Is only for first 40 mk1 aircrafts.

Mk1 A - AESA range ?

but they are made on IOC - II standard so there is no need of these.

So ioc 2 std 20 tejas will house composite nose cone
Foc std 20 tejas will house quartz nose cone
AESA radar nose cone same or different ?

Then why did SP 2 aircraft took such a long time ?
Recent articles presumes SP 2 will house quartz nose cone .. Is it wrong ? Then will LSP aircraft house the quartz cone ?

If HAL cant pull this off I think they should be sold off to the private sector. They have failed far too many times.

However, if they pull this off, they will finally silence the nay sayers of the LCA.

This is a big deal.

Basically AESA is a form of radar installation that has no moving parts Basically its doesn't need radome cone upgrade

Basically quartz allow or produce certain wave lengths well ..
If AESA wavelength varies , I think thickness of the nose cone have to be changed around half it's wave length. I am totally clueless though. It's the principle used in Ultrasound scanners.

AESAs are the result of further developments in solid-state electronics.You Can distribute emitters all over the surface of the plane, or small clusters of emitters. Function Absent in Pusle Doppler radars

The True detection is Btw 80-100 Km Its More than Enough For Lightweight category Fighter
OK,but one small doubt.tejas is a fighter in small category but what will happen if it face a medium or heavy weight type aircraft. In real conflict tejas may have to face all type of aircraft that time 80 to 100 km rang of radar will not be adequate enough.

In-fact Tejas will be at an advantage in such cases if its BVR fight as it has got very long range BVR

and 80+ range, in my opinion specified on the lower side it will be much more than that ( BVR that is getting integrated has very good range I Derby ER).
Also pl remember the size of tejas is tiny and made of composites, so the RCS of this might not be high (even a loaded one). Pl observe how india uses Mig-21 (Red flag) and you'll know that it can take care of non-stealthy adversaries.
In any case there will be many ifs and buts, ( Config, height etc).

In Modern Era Due to Advancement in EW & DRFM Technology that Perfect NEZ(NO Escape zone) of BVRs are Shrinked Below 50 Km or Less
Modern BVR Like MICA have range 60 KM are more than enough to counter Threats. Rest are all Marketing Tactics
Secondly Light Weight Fighters always have Low RCS Advantage over Heavy and Middle category fighters in theory.

Well Now the question is does Tejas Radar performance support the I-Derby ER which has over 100 KM range and has very good NEZ. As per the news in the above link, this will be the main BVR that will mated with Tejas.
Any thoughts Gurus?

Yes It Can, Former LCA Project Director ‘P S Subramanyam’ Said it in interview that Python & Derby missiles Can be inter-graded in existing radar system which is 50 KM. Radar Range Have nothing to do with Missile Range Each Missile Have Min And Maximum Range of Interception.

Don't Confuse Yourself With Range Myth , Every Kill that BVRs made till Now are below 60 KM in real war

Well I do understand that, but to have engagements at a range of 60KM you need a detection range of 150 KM, it takes time to detect and recognize friend/foe, get required go ahead for engagement, get to appropriate altitude.. blah blah ... :)
What I am trying to say is does Tejas perform/ facilitate its radar to perform at the max possible performance specified by elta?
Note with Tejas huge nose cone it should in ideal case. which is 150 KM for 3M2 (If I remember it correct) in A2A.
