He caught the ball before touching/going over the rope, he tossed the ball into the air as he stepped over, for the moment when Dhawan was on/over the rope, ball was in the air and was not touching him... and once he quickly stepped back into the field, he caught the airborne ball again to complete the catch.

Pretty simple stuff to understand unless you don't want to understand.
