If Iranians are already retracting their "5th generation fighter" claims and calling this a subsonic CAS, I am pretty sure that soon you guys will say it was all just a big joke all along and that Qaher is actually just a large piñata prepared for the 40th anniversary of the Iranian revolution.

In Rouhani's government and after reducing the defense ministry's budget by 85%, Qaher became a multi stage development platform with the final stage being an interceptor, in current experimental stage it's just a trainer, close support, cause other subsystem projects like airborn radar were all suspended.

Because CAS doesn't need stealth, in fact the roles contradict each other. CAS aircraft are meant to be able to take punishment and still return to base, whereas stealth aircraft are can take no punishment and instead avoid it by being difficult to see by radar. A CAS aircraft will often be so close to the enemy on the ground that stealth will useless when there are infrared and electro-optical short range air defences.

well even for CAS aircraft its nice avoid being targeted by AN/TWQ-1 Avenger, ADATS, Pantsir , Crotale, Tor-m1 or any Manpad around .

MANPAD, TQW-1, ADATS don't even use radars and so stealth would not benefit from them. Radar based systems can be taken out by other tactical aircraft, like multirole stealth fighters. But the heavy lifting against tanks, IFVs, APCs, enemy fortified positions etc is done by CAS aircraft.

Nice drawing... when will this thing fly? Seriously think IRI is capable of building a a fighter/trainer jet? I doubt that. IRI cant even build a frigate that can last a year, let alone build F/T a jet.

I respect your doubts. They said that their flight tests will be conducted in March. It may be earlier or later, but as you know these tests take a lot of time, but they saying that they are showing a flight test in March

First of all they did i.e. "Saeghe 2" .. secondly they've been able to keep tomcat airborne for more than 4 decades give them some credits under sanction ... and Yes Iran has manufactured frigates which last more than a year surely incidents would happen in every country ..

F-313 has probably already flown. Based on last years taxi and the markings on the plane, there maybe a handful of variants/prototypes.

The question is will any of Iran's armed forces show interest?

People like to only blame Iran's R&D arms for lack of mass produced projects, but the reality is Iran's armed forces are very critical of projects and don't place orders on just any project.

If it's not a significant improvement to what exists or performance is not what the armed forces have in mind, they will walk away and the project will get shelved/die due to lack of funds/interest.
