'Qaeda ready to take over Punjab’

LAHORE: Al Qaeda has nominated Ameers (presidents) and Naib Amirs (vice presidents) in all 34 districts of Punjab who can take over the province at any time, South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) General Secretary Imtiaz Alam said on Friday. During his address at a condolence conference in memory of poet and former professor of Punjabi at MAO College Professor (Late) Ali Arshad Mir, Alam also alleged that Punjab police have been providing protocol to ‘jihadis’. He said the rightist and leftist wings in Pakistan had unfortunately united and were jointly terming the United Sates an enemy of Pakistan, adding that this ideology was further being fuelled and propagated by ‘mujahideen’ in the media. Alam said that these extremist forces had joined hands to overpower the third faction – the progressive and liberal section of the society. He apprehended a clash of factions as forces from Muridke, Raiwand, Waziristan, DI Khan and Karachi were working to defeat each other. The SAFMA general secretary said the ‘mujahideen’ media had adopted the Taliban’s theory and was attacking secular forces in the country. He said that the lawyers’ movement has also divided the civil society, adding that the democratic movement had cooled down as well. He said the absence of Arshad Mir was being felt in uncertain times like these, which require someone to raise a voice for the liberal and progressive forces in the country. staff report

Qaeda has also taken over Washington and Delhi, don't forget that !

.
They might do some terrorist attacks but to say that they are ready to ‘Take over’ is not true.

. . .
No In reality! They are not capable to defeat a country like Pakistan but there must be multiple options to tackle this issue.

Salman, sorry my post seems like it is referred to you, but I was referring to T-rex. I think while me posting you have posted. I made changes in my post

^^
T-Rex
In your dreams haan

You have failed to grasp my point; if Qaeda's presence in Pakistan means it has taken over, it also has its presence in Washington and Delhi.

Presence and taking over are two different words with different meanings. Taking over means they are going to disrupt the normal life there too.

.
'Taking over' means taking over - disruption of life would is something AQ accomplished during 911, and through other extremists organizations in India (bomb blasts in various cities).

One can't say that those terrorist attacks imply that those cities in India and US have been 'taken over'.

^^

AM, taking over means significantly disturbing the social fabric also. Which they are able to. There is a lot of support from local population for them. We all know the current situation.

. .
its to funny, or hypthetical... right!
i guss , you dont have any idea of pakistani, punjab! right?

Nitesh, why are you trying to come up with a different explanation for a phrase that is pretty self explanatory?

'Taking over' means to take control. Disrupting society implies just that. The latter does not automatically lead to the former - we see that in Bajaur and Swat. The Taliban do not have 'control' anymore, nor can they hope to, but they are still capable of disrupting society.

What is the current situation in Punjab that 'we know'?
