No wonder why.. But on another note could the Libyan oil be part of why Eygpt have become all of sudden very strong. Because We know that Egypt has stack in Libyan oil recently

Honestly, nothing of that sort was the motivation for building that base which started in 2017. There's a satellite composition of the build from start to finish that I'll try to post later which shows how much earth and sand they moved to create what is essentially a man-made harbor with a very long breakwater to shield it & protect it as well as control the current and water movement for the ships within the harbor.

If you look at the map I posted, besides Alexandria, there isn't anything along that entire coast all the way to the border with Libya and it was very difficult to patrol and defend since the naval and air assets would have to travel great distances from other bases to conduct those patrols. As a matter of fact, during the wars with Israel, the zionists would use that stretch of undefended coast to penetrate Egypt with their fighters. They would takeoff and fly straight west in the middle of the Mediterranean and then cut south between Alexandria and Marsa Matruh and then back towards the Nile Delta and bomb EAF airports etc. Not until 1973 in the battle of El Mansoura that they were defeated by EAF MiGs over the airbase which was the last time they or anyone was able to penetrate Egypt's airspace from that direction.

So to defend that stretch and stop any infiltration of any kind, as well as patrol the coast and maritime border along with being closer to several of the new gas fields, they had to build this base to make the northern naval command center. Now with this, Port Said and Bernice, they have the 3 primary naval bases spread out perfectly to defend and also plan whatever outward missions they need to. They also have Alexandria as an additional need if necessary but it's smack dab in the middle of one of the most historical cities in the world with a huge residential population that it most likely would be the last resort and just an extra. It's also the current main base for the EN submarine fleet.

For other reasons, there's Libya and whatever trouble that comes from there including the cretins who've been decimated at the western border by the EAF. There's also the tensions with Turkey which need to be observed and repelled if they get any silly ideas as well as to receive allies who might need to dock for fuel and stay etc. The base is complete with all necessary needs from state of the art quarters, military needs, recreational and entertainment quarters, sports and fitness centers and much much more to conduct all sorts of exercises with all allies.

This fella on Twitter does great translations of some of the really good videos that the military puts out and he did a 4-part series for it. If anyone who might not speak or understand Arabic, they can enjoy it. He did a great job. One of the neat things I picked up on is when the Sea King Commando flew towards on of the Oliver Hazard ships to drop off a unit of special forces, it was escorted by on of the new Mi-24 Hinds and once it reached the ship, it hovered over the rear platform, dropped a slide rope and while the SFs slid down onto the ship, the Mi-24 Hind gunship circled the ship and Sea King several times to provide air cover. Something we have never seen before. See if you pic it up and what you think of it. HINT - Beginning of part 2.

Thanks for clarifying it is always good setting up your defenses despite no conflict being on the horizon. As for the east-med what is Egypt's stack there? Because Egypt already has it's oil and there is no contest in that. I fail to see benefits of the Greek-Egyptian deal. If I were the Egyptian admin I would rather seek to milk Turkey there is more benefit in them. Greece is just poor country and dry as bone with no intellectual property to offer and nothing they can offer might Egypt at this point in time

Fantastic read. But I'd like to add the Egyptians need another base, Somewhere near Luxor,As Bernice base seems too far South.A base near Luxor would be a devastating trap for any infiltrating air force,They would be flanked by the base up north and south from Bernice,Hear me out you need a base in or around Luxor. By near Luxor I mean along its horizontal axis to the sea since it's a naval base

They could also add some artificial islands in the MED in crucial axis points

Glad it was helpful.

As for the east-med what is Egypt's stack there? Because Egypt already has it's oil and there is no contest in that. I fail to see benefits of the Greek-Egyptian deal.

What do you mean by "Egypt's stack there"?

If I were the Egyptian admin I would rather seek to milk Turkey there is more benefit in them. Greece is just poor country and dry as bone with no intellectual property to offer and nothing they can offer might Egypt at this point in time

Greek/Egyptian relations date back centuries, even earlier than Turkey and the Ottoman's presence in Egypt and we even have cultural and religious ties with Greece with our Coptic population and many of northern Egyptian people. Greece is an important ally because of those reasons and also because we have common, vested interests in the region. Our goals and interests coincide strongly on top of our friendly relations and the fact that they're struggling with their economy is no reason to give up on a good friend and ally. If anything, our ways are to stick with your good friend through thick and thin and especially during rough times and show support.

As far as Turkey, I'm sure you're aware of Erdogan's big fat trap and his bashing of Sisi when the latter took over after ousting Morsi. He went off on a tangent calling it a coup and trashed Sisi which is not the way diplomacy is handled. Those are fighting words and who would ever be ok with that? If people consider it a coup, so be it. Doesn't mean you go off the deep end and bark like a rabid dog and insult and then, do the worst thing possible and harbor most of Egypt's internal enemies in the Muslim Brotherhood.

Look, the majority of Egyptians are fine with Morsi having been taken out and the purging of the MB which had nothing but selfish intentions in ruling Egypt. These are very difficult things to forgive and they recently tried. But after shipping over thousands of Syrian mercenaries to our next door neighbor to create conflict against the side that we supported because that side guaranteed security for Egypt is frankly an act of war. That was the reason Sisi drew the Red Line and was completely prepared to go in if they crossed it.

Then when they came back asking to be friends again, Egypt was even willing to listen because Sisi is one of the best diplomats in the Middle East at the moment and he saw that peace and reestablishing relations with Turkey can have its benefits, but not until they met all the conditions we presented and the biggest one was that it would be responsible for removing every single mercenary they brought over to be sure they don't end up forming groups with other terrorist to try to infiltrate Egypt. This is a major threat to the security of Egypt that Turkey obviously doesn't give a rat's *** about since they denied that request along with extraditing many wanted MB members that fled Egypt to Turkey and have been doing nothing but creating smear campaigns against our country. Who would ever put up with that? That proved that they were NOT genuine about wanting to open a new page of friendship and now, maybe the Greece partnership makes a lot more sense, I hope. Imagine someone bringing thousands of mercenaries to your neighboring country that is mired in a civil war and has been creating terrorist attacks that have killed countless Egyptians? Would you forgive treachery like that so easily without any major conditions to get rid of all of them? Imagine if we sent a bunch of FSA Syrians to assist the mountain Kurds? Erdogan would blow his top off and have a heart attack.

Turkey has created a lot of enemies for itself and frankly, it's not all about technology and selfish benefits and not much that they have interests us since we have a very particular plan about the modernization of Egypt's military which has moved at an unprecedented rate so far and 100% of it can be easily done without anything from Turkey.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope all that makes sense and answers your question.

There is olso the Dabaa nuclear plant just behind it..

Aye, you are 100% correct about that, good sir. I forgot about that and that is a BIG ONE.

Actually one of Egypt's largest bases is in Aswan, a very short distance from Luxor. Also if you look at the other map with the naval bases, Bernice on the Red Sea is also an Airforce base not to mention Hurghada which was assigned for the 4 squadrons of F-7 Airguard interceptors. Now there are MiG-35s based there and quite possibly the Su-35SEs once they become fully operational.

Believe me, with the inevitable situation coming up with Ethiopia, they've given the southern border A LOT of attention to the point where they've coordinated with Sudan to easily use their bases to help protect them and us in the event someone from the south tried anything silly.

I posted this pic from Wiki but strangely enough, the bases on the pic don't show up here!?!? Very strange. Either way, here's the link and scroll down until you see this pic and you can see how far south Aswan base is.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope all that makes sense and answers your question.

I meant Egypt's oil and gas is within the Egyptian territorial limit and there was no contest over that ever.

I do understand there is a cultural ties between Egypt and greece that even predates When Amr ibn al-As arrived there were only copts there and greek copts were present and they were all copts by religion. There is a valid cultural link and even majority of the 90% muslim egyptians have coptic hertige who started to convert to Islam thru out the centuries slowly.

I am more pragmatic when I look at relations and don't really base them on religious lines but rather what can benefit me in this given time. I know being selfish is not good but sometimes you gotta be selfish to further your own case at all costs. There is also undeniable cultural links between Egypt and Turkey via the ottoman era and religious link but mending ties should not be based on religion but based on Egypt's interests. I know Egypt has already very strong and modern armed forces but what Egypt needs is to plan for the future procurement and everything has to be something that grants egypt superiority against all comers in Airforce, Navy and conventional ground forces. Whether you hate them or love them the Turks are genius and have a very advanced defense industry probably would say the 2nd best in the world and could even have the best in the world in the coming decades. Egypt has to make sure it has air-superiority over everyone in the region in the next 15-20 years hence ties with Turkey is crucial and don't expect the US or Russia to sell you aircrafts superior to the Israeli once but Turkey will sale without any pre-attachments. You don't have to downgrade your relations with Greece but developing a sound relations with Turkey at the same time is key for your own long term benefits and defense is crucial for the country and the hopes of the future depends on being able to defend your interests and sovereignty. Thinking ahead of time is crucial Egypt's military is strong and sound as it stands and don't need any further additions but the weapons that will come in the mid 30s or 40s has to be superiority focussed tech exclusively that is why you need the turks around without downgrading other relations like Greece or Cyprus keep them around..

when 700+ Turkish military projects enter service until 2030
Turkey will be stronger than even Egypt+Greece+İsrael combined

our competitors are France , Russia , The UK but not Egypt who develop nothing

Calm down, nobody here cares about your shitty EEZ.

since 2019 France , Greece , İsrael and puppet HAFTAR , SISI , MBZ are trying to destroy Turkish national interests in Libya and in the Eastern Mediterranean

and we kicked all of them
still they are dreaming about another war game
but in finally Greece and Egypt will pay heavy price in a conflict , not smart İsrael
