Putting Aakash within reach of Pak Children

. .
I believe Aakash hasn't been a success in India itself so how do you expect selling it in big numbers in our hostile neibhourhood ?

*joke mode on*

This is the RAW conspiracy to corrupt young pak minds. This propaganda is to divert pak youth minds from the real issues of Kashmir and Indus water treaty. This tablet will also find out how pak made tennis balls and it will increase the popularity of Indian bananas in Pakistan.

Since the world war 3 is reserved for Indus water, world war 4 should be on tablets.

Lol akash is not even popular in india, the career of Akash can be compared to the career of Kapil Sibbal. Close to failure.

actually,you're wrong...

Over a year back, UbiSlate, the commercial version of the Aakash 1, had got around 40 lakh bookings. "We are now going back to these people to check if they still want to buy the tablet. However, almost everyone who paid an advance have not got the product," Tuli said, adding that DataWind was now shipping up to 3,000 tablets a day from its four assembly facilities in India. "Fresh orders are now shipping out of the warehouses within 72 hours."

100,000 Aakash tablets delivered: DataWind - Business Today - Business News

That figure is from past year..I accept the previous "AAkash" model was not so popular.but recent model has improved a lot..of course you can't compare it with high end tabs,do you???

A bird in hand is better than 9 in the bush. Besides some of your countrymen flatter themselves way too much.

They do. As do I...we all have our flaws :)
Besides, the point is that it should be as cheap as possible so that it can be supplied in mass numbers to children all over India coupled with educational packages that are designed specifically for children of the region.

Pakistan should go for something like that as well - with a Pakistani company if they please - but the kids should have something like this.

Sir, everything becomes cheap when its mass produced. Should Pakistani govt decide to hand over tablets to school kids [which they wont], we can mass produce the PAC-PAD - or build a watered down version, designed to support curriculum only. Current tablet costs about $140.

@Contrarian

Laptops, those HP ones bought with British aid handed over to students above 18+ [voting age] ONLY?

We both know what its meant to do. If he's serious about it why isn't he buying PAC Laptops? - It will promote a local industry, create jobs, promote innovation and confidence in local built technology?

Come on, we both know our politicians don't think on this frequency. All they care about is how to win the next term and how to buy more property in S.France,Monti Carlo and Surrey....woof...i talk too much....TIP...This Is Pakistan.

I didnt know this. If it was aid then it would have preconditions as well.

Ofcourse.
Not for a moment do I presume that Nawaz or any other would be philanthropic but just that instead of distributing laptops, he would distribute tablets.
Its just an indirect way of buying votes.
But It would yield the same benefit as the laptop scheme. He can get bribed by any Pakistani company as well - which ever assembles the product in Pakistan. The domestic ones bribe just as well as the foreign ones.
