there is no such thing as an indian "camp" and there is also no such thing as "friends" in the international arena. there are only interests. and right now, the converging interests of nations like Pakistan, China, Turkey, Russia & Iran are to break the couple of teeth that america & nato have left and those are the teeth of sanctions & embargoes. their military teeth have been broken, they are in no mood get dragged into long drawn out wars due to financial pressures and pressures from local public at home. now...there used to be a Russian "camp" once upon a time but that has now transformed into the Chinese "camp" and both Pakistan & Russia are very important members of that camp which naturally makes them allies. population wise, Russia's population in less than 150 million while the eu's population is over 700 million. include the u.s. population and your looking at Russia staring at an enemy with over a billion in population. couple that with america nato et al's aggressive tantrums and military misadventures across the globe, Russia is right to feel threatened by an enemy almost 10 times is size. Lucky, Russia has the largest nuclear stockpile in the world and strategic depth and industrial/technological capabilites to match. therfore Russia will react and react preemptively to any and every attempt of nato to expand given nato's thuggish track record.

You need to study history better. Nobody "broke" the Ottoman Empire. Maybe that's what Indians learned in school? The fall of Ottoman Empire was the result of many factors. Such as foreign invasions, reform and modernization. Fighting 2 world wars does it nothing to be proud of. Millions of South Asian's, Sub saharan africans and North Africans fought in WW2.
