Purpose of S-400 and Rafale is to hit Pakistani aircraft inside Pakistani air space

okay thanks but asked about the belly-mounted cannons (aka machine-guns) I do knot know why but I must be the most misunderstood poster on the planet
anyhoo here is a foto of a real non-museum machine

That is because the H-6 model you saw is one of the Cold War era variants. As I have stated before, the most lacking part of the Chinese air force is probably the bomber force.

China's H-6K: The 'Old' Bomber That Could 'Sink' the U.S. Navy
by TNI Staff

In recent days, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has stepped up its activities in the South China Sea.

For the first time ever, the PLAAF has landed Xian H-6K bombers on Woody Island in the disputed Paracel archipelago. The Pentagon decried the Chinese move as a part of “China’s continued militarisation of disputed features in the South China Sea,” U.S. Pacific Command spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Logan said.

The H-6K—which is a highly upgraded Chinese copy of the antiquated 1950s-era Soviet-built Tupolev Tu-16 Badger—is the PLAAF’s mainstay bomber. But while the Badger design is a Soviet-era antique, internally, the Chinese H-6K is a modern aircraft with a much-improved airframe, sensors and propulsion.

The new H-6K variant replaces the old Xian WP8 turbojets found on pervious H-6 versions with new Russian Soloviev D-30-KP2 turbofans. The D-30 low bypass two shaft turbofan—which some might call a leaky turbojet—has been modified for use on a number of applications ranging from the Mach 2.83 capable Mikoyan MiG-31 Foxhound interceptor to the Ilyushin Il-76 military transport to the Il-62 airliner to the new Xian Y-20 strategic airlifter. While the D-30—having been originally designed to power the MiG-31—is not an ideal engine for a subsonic bomber or transport aircraft, it is an enormous improvement over the primitive WP8 turbojets that were originally installed on the H-6.

With the new non-afterburning D-30 engines installed in combination with the new composite materials used in the airframe, the H-6K bomber’s range is increased by some thirty percent over previous H-6 variants. The modernized bomber now has a combat radius of roughly 2,200 miles. Avionics-wise, the H-6K dispenses with steam gauges and incorporates a full glass cockpit. The bomber also incorporates a new long-range surface search radar and an electro-optical targeting pod to find its targets.

Unlike previous iterations of the Badger, the H-6K was designed primarily as a cruise missile carrier. The jet can carry six CJ-10K or YJ-12 long-range land attack and anti-ship cruise missiles on its wing and potentially several more inside its weapons bays. It is also thought to carry a host of precision-guided weapons. That makes it a threat to not only U.S. and allied shipping, but also land bases.

The CJ-10K land-attack cruise missile has a range of over 930 nautical miles and carries a 1,100-pound warhead. The weapon—which draws heavily from the Soviet-designed Raduga Kh-55 cruise missile that China acquired from Ukraine—has many of the advanced features found on the American Tomahawk and the Russian Kalibr. Indeed, the CJ-10K guidance package is thought to include combination of inertial navigation system, satellite navigation, terrain contour matching and digital scene-mapping area correlation. There is also an YJ-100 anti-ship variant of the missile that has a range of about 430 nautical miles.

For short-range anti-ship attacks, the H-6K carries the potent YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missile. “The YJ-12 poses a number of a number of security concerns for U.S. naval forces in the Pacific and is considered the ‘most dangerous anti-ship missile China has produced thus far,’” according the Missile Defense Advocacy group. “The danger posed by the YJ-12 comes from its range of 400 km, making it the longest-ranged ACBM ever engineered, and its ability to travel at high rates of speed (up to Mach 3). This makes it difficult for Aegis Combat Systems and SM-2 surface-to-air missiles that protect U.S. carrier strike groups to identify and engage the missile since it can be launched beyond their engagement ranges, which greatly reduces the U.S. Navy’s time to react. Protection against the YJ-12 is even more difficult due to its cork-screw-like turns which allow it to evade final defenses. With the combination of Chinese Flankers, YJ-12’s can potentially reach up to 1,900km which could cause an even larger problem for the U.S. than China’s DF-21D ASBM. Deployment of the YJ-12 and the development of related ASCMs also demonstrates China’s desire to field anti-access and area denial capabilities in case of future conflict.”

Ultimately, the H-6K is just a launch platform, it does not have to be a spectacular performer like the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit or B-21 Raider to be dangerous. Indeed, it is the H-6K’s extremely potent long-range missile armament is the real threat rather than the aircraft itself. But the H-6K is just one component of a family of Chinese anti-access systems including anti-ship ballistic missiles that China is developing to keep U.S. forces at bay. The bomber will be used with other Chinese A2/AD forces, and it that role, it pose a serious danger to American interests in the Pacific.

Considering India never had S300, It will be hard to boast about it.

As far as Su 30 being extremely proficient aircraft ..it still is. If 27 Feb is your yardstick of measurement, that PAF was able drop bombs across the LOC , then PAF should retire it's fleet to ..when IAF crossed the LoC the previous day and dropped bombs 80 kms into Pakistan..no PAF fighter was even within 150 km range of Mirages despite being on CAP.

so wats your point wen u state that no PAF fighter was in range wen India dropped bomb on empty places? Whats your point since soon after, two of your jets got shot down without any losses on PAK side. You got humiliated cowboy.

.
you really think there's a chance that any Pakistani acquisition of 5th gen aircraft will go unanswered by India ?

we won't be buying Chinese, btw.

It will be a tit-for-tat game, as is the acquisition of Rafale........and since IAF CANNOT buy the much cheaper Chinese Jets, they will have to go for much more expensive US Jets, subject to clearance from the US; or wait for Russian Jets to mature, which too will be very expensive.

.
they forget that if they try this then s400 and indian airbases will be destroyed by barrage of cruise missiles

.
Looks like entire iaf is now depending on rafales. It's like a joke. We already changed rules of engagement long time ago.they think they can fire s-400 missile on our jet and we will remain silent. Let me tell the Indians that we have more deadly solutions to this problem.this guy dhanao basically wants to match the numbers of pakistani f-16 which is 70+. I can feel the pain of Feb 27 through his statement.

Well if you going ride the fantasy train, then a Pakistani F 16 was also shot down. So where is the humiliation.

yyeeeah...the purpose of those spike isreali missiles was also "hit" Pakistan inside its territory...and we all know what a failure that turned out to be now don't we? :lol:

@PakSword @jaibi
Meteor is developed by what.. 6 nations? so EU mostly use it.. and must have been designed against Mig-29 and Su30s of Russia... but why US doesn't make air breathing missile? Meteor must be lethal, that is why they developed 120D... to compensate the range.,,, but still solid fuel.. Does, meteor need to be fuelled, before CAP? I think you can't let liquid fuel, remain inside the missile for longer period of time?!!!
METEOR feature true ramjet propulsion system to preserve fuel (solid fuel variable flow ducted rocket) - to facilitate its NEZ objective - when chasing a target.

NEZ = No Escape Zone

Enter the ramjet powered Meteor. Instead of burning off all its fuel right after launch it can throttle its engine back during cruise, thus saving fuel. As it approaches its target it can throttle up, eventually making its terminal attack while at its highest possible energy state, around mach 4.5, even when fired over long ranges.

Not only does this mean the Meteor will have more energy to maneuver during the endgame of the engagement, but this capability also drastically increases the size of the missile's "no escape zone." Basically, the Meteor has a far greater ability to "chase" and catch enemy aircraft over long ranges.

So more than just being a better beyond-visual-range (BVR) missile via high-end sensors and a larger rocket motor, Meteor has a totally different—and much smarter—propulsion concept, that not only increases range but also increases its effectiveness of the missile over that range.

A missile that listens and talks to its master

How do they know the J20 is not stealthy.
It is "not stealthy" according to Indian air marshal but it is mandatory to have Luneburg lens on? We have different imaginary tactics against enemy stealth targets before we actually get our hands on a 5 gen fighter, later most of them proven useless or flawed, stealth and anti-stealth is a whole systematic thing, it consumes a huge amount of time and money.
what kind of a nation has an air marshal underestimating their rival and big mouth in public?
