Purchase 2 cargo aircrafts to export vegetables: PM

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, being impressed by the country’s recent bumper cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers, ordered authorities concerned to procure two refrigerated cargo aircrafts to export the items.

She issued the order at the meeting of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) at the NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Tuesday (August 20).

The meeting approved a project roughly titled "Strengthening Department of Agricultural Marketing" worth Tk 160 crore, with ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

The premier told the meeting to buy two cargo planes for exporting vegetables to various countries, as said by Planning Minister MA Mannan.

However, a total of 12 projects were approved in the ECNEC meeting.

There is no "S" in Aircraft. Also who would buy such expensive vegies that come flying on an aircraft same day from half way around the globe? Arabs? Chinese? I dont think so.

Exporter have hard time finding slot in the cargo plane for exporting vegies and fish. you have limited knowledge.
Buyers are mostly EU countries and Arabs

BD diapora would be enough to support it. BD fresh fruit and vegetables sell at a premium in uk and europe. I would suspect it would be the same in the middle east maybe.
