These days I noticed Punjabi and many Pakistani parents feel proud in teaching their kids how to be a angrez. Quite often I see Pakistani kids talking in English with their parents and siblings. And talking in Punjabi is considered bad manners and a paindu thing. The fact is there is no language like Punjabi , specially when you try to convey a message or having a funny laughing conversation. It's a language of great saints like baba guru nanak, baba bulleh shah,hazrat Muhammed baksh ,Waris shah,dataa Ali hajveeri and Farid shakar ganj.If our future generations won't speak Punjabi that means we've lost our beautiful language which is a very sad and shameful thing. Punjabi should be promoted and made made compulsory in Punjabi schools.Similarly besides Urdu other provincial languages should be promoted and made compulsory in other provinces. English should only be confined for learning and communication purposes ,we should not adopt English and perceive it as a pride and status symbol. My request to moderators of this forum ,please allow us to have a stick Punjabi language thread.

Punjabi is already one of the 22 constitutionally recognised languages of India. A person living in Punjab and studying in a school under state board has a compulsory Punjabi as subject till 10th std.......
Also Punjabi is the official language of the state of Punjab. All the official work of the state government is done in Punjabi and central government has to translate its work in Punjabi to communicate with the state.
Information boards like on shops , road signs , building names have to be in Punjabi. Eg u can have a road in Punjabi and Hindi on same plate.
This is a rough template used by all states and their respective official languages.
To avoid any mistrust , state governments follows 3 langauge policy - English , Hindi and regional language.

Yes, Punjabi is spoken/understood by almost 60% of Pakistan's population.
It's about time we declared it an official language (in Punjab at least)
It's ironic that we teach Arabic, English and even Chinese in our schools but not Punjabi

You can replace the word "Punjabi" with most other languages in the world and the word "Pakistani" with most other nation in the world, and I think your statement would still probably be valid.

And Punjabi is available as an optional and elective subject in matric arts, FA, BA, MA. You can do PhD in Punjabi if you want no one is stopping you.

Why do you study urdu then? why wasting time; if i follow your argument. Urdu is a national language, punjabi for 60 percent of Pakistanis is mother tongue. So it's important to know it academically as well.

No Punjabi should not be taught.

Point is simple dont act punjabi is special every provincial language is special and urdu should be super special for province as one language to all.
